It’s not just HDR content. I usually edit my photos on my Mac Studio + Studio Display. I then export the edited photos to my 2024 M4 iPad Pro. On the iPad Pro, the photos look absolutely stunning. The iPad OLED display makes the Studio Display look like a dated, tired piece of 💩.

Yes you are right the IPP OLED screen is utterly amazing when watching HDR content especially. Watch TRON clips in HDR on Youtube and be blown away. Even Non HDR is improved especially dark and night scenes with those inky blacks. The Tandem OLED display is the most advanced screen on the planet right now bar none.
The new Tron, the original movie or the animated Tron?

I’ve had an LG OLED (C1) since 2021 and used it for over 2000 hours by now, mostly 4K HDR gaming and movies. It’s too good for media consumption I don’t want to use my M1 iPad Pro anymore.

Haha. I got the 11" and 13" OLED, both cellular, two Magic Keyboards, one Smart Folio, one Apple Pencil, and a 6L sling bag. At least I resisted the nano texture. I don't even want to do the math. It was a very expensive summer.

I'll bet your iPad exhibits a color shift from top to bottom when viewing a white background. That aspect of OLEDs has just never impressed me.

Erm….that’s because it is. Studio display is old panel tech that doesn’t even support HDR, and you can get way better for the money

So I just picked up the new M4 iPad Pro with that OLED display everyone’s been raving about. At first I wasn't that impressed about it until I watched HDR content on it. Let me tell you, it’s stunning, in fact, that it has completely ruined my TV with HDR content.

I was perfectly happy with my home theater setup, but nooooo, the M4 iPad Pro just had to flex on my TV. So guess I have to drop $3000 on a new LG OLED TV due to this iPad.
Please, I'm begging you to stop making me think about the black levels on my TV screen and how ok-but-not-great they are.

As if they’re trying to get rid of that display panel after discontinuing the 27-inch iMac.

I'm not sure what you mean by "advanced," but if you mean "best," then I have to disagree. It can't hold a candle to a top tier QD-OLED. Is the iPad Pro much, much brighter? Yes, of course, and that makes HDR pop more. But if you take into account everything else that goes into creating a high-quality video, it lags. And I'd argue that all of those advancements are much more impressive than the tandem OLED.

Did they fix the blooming issue with the iPad Pros with this update? I have the M1 iPad Pro and absolutely cannot stand the blooming issue it has. I watch a lot of dark content and it is just atrocious.

Thats your opinion which is fine, but the Tandem OLED display is considered in the industry as the best display available right now. There is no OLED display that can match the sustained brightness levels and Apple themselves market it as the most ‘advanced ‘ display, so take that as you will.
