Biggest downsides to OLED are PWM if you are sensitive to that and the black “smearing” at low brightness. (It’s actually just the pixels being slow)

My LG V30+ was really bad with this and black crush. The LG G8 ThinQ is noticeably better but black smear is still visible on low light.

I don't mind it much but on the XS it was like I had my V30+ again. Not sure about the newer model but I imagine it's still there, if only at lower lighting.

Coming from a recent 6s owner, now on a Xs - I don't see the difference.

I think your eyes would adjust over time. I can easily see the difference between the 11 Pro OLED vs the 11 LCD. But the LCD is still a very solid display.

I went from the X, to the XS, and now to the 11 and I can say that this LCD is fantastic. Unless you watch a lot of HDR content on your phone, you will not be disappointed.

Very hard to see the difference with how good Apple's display calibrations are. Only noticeable to me under specific conditions

1. Lights are all off
2. Something pure black on screen, like letterbox videos. Even then, the non-black parts look about the same.

So yesterday I received my iPhone 11 and compared it to my Oneplus 7 Pro Oled 90Hz. The iPhone Dispöay is really i mean really good. I can't see individual Pixels And the colours are good. Also no black crush like on my Oled. But what I notice is the refresh rate. I got used to it but that's the only gripe i have. All in all iPhone 11 has an awesome Display which is very sharp.

Do you think you would notice a big difference if you switched from a OLED screen to a LCD screen?

I would like to have an high resolution LCD iPhone, to get rid of this crap OLED technology...

Not sure why everybody like OLED.

QLED > OLED & LCD.

QLED is just an LCD implementation.

By the way, the real improvement will be mLED.

I just bought an iPhone 11 pro max and I was playing with it in the past days almost exclusively.
And right now, I opened my iPad Pro.... and the iPad looks weird! No more blacks just greys.
I am starting to get used to it back again.

OLED does make a difference, but you notice it when you go back to LCD, It’s interesting 🙂

i use an iphone xs.. before that, i used a iphone 7.
most of the time, i spend on whatsapp, snapchat - classic message. FOR ME there is not really a difference (not really - mean when you really look verly close)

But when i watch netflix oder something, then you will see it.. especially at black colours..

so on normal daily use i will not miss the oled.. more battery life is meanwhile more important for me...

but sure... better have an oled than having no oled 😛

Update on my previous opinion.

Still has some black smear on the iPhone 11 Pro Max but it's similar to my LG G8. They did a way better job with this screen over the XS. Got a good trade in deal on my 7 and switched to AT&T.

OLED is very good on the newest devices.

OLED is unquestionably superior for reading in bed at night.

With the white-on-black Kindle theme, reading in the dark causes no eye strain and won’t wake up my wife.

I could never go back, and I can’t WAIT for an OLED Mac for the same reason—coding on a screen with minimal light pollution? Yes please!

i don’t think there will be an OLED mac because burn in will be more of a concern on a normal computer. Think it will go straight to micro LED

Micro-Led is still probably not ready for mass production. I’d say the first device that would probably see Micro-led would be the Apple Watch display, then maybe the iPhone. But anything beyond that, I don’t think Apple has the necessary suppliers to even produce a display larger than an iPhone, given the rest of the tech market isn’t supporting micro LED yet either.
