Hi!

Could anyone share the experience and tell if Olloclip telephoto lens could be used for iPhone 7 Plus portrait mode, respectively is it able to maintain bokeh:

https://www.olloclip.com/shop/shop/connect-telephoto-2x-lens/

I found on the website that this lens utilizes both iPhone lenses, however the sample image was quite terrible… https://www.olloclip.com/blog/doubling-down-iphone7-plus-telephoto-camera/

Could anyone share their samples it there are any?

P.S. Are there any alternatives using both & Plus lenses?

I don't see how it could work, as the iPhone uses both lenses at the same time to capture a "portrait" picture.
With the Olloclip, it looks like you have to manually move it from one location to the other, so one of the two pictures the iPhone takes would be black, as the second lens is covered up.
At least that's the way I think it works... could be wrong though.

I think the season the sample pictures have a blur effect, is that the lens is not sharp all the way to the corners. Not the actual portrait mode.

Well, I am quite skeptical about the quality of such lenses...I did decide to experiment a bit and ordered Olloclip macro 15x and wide angle just for fun, but instead of getting a telephoto lens I found a great deal and decided to try Sony qx100...we'll see how it works... at least it will be something more interesting than 2x lens...hopefully :)

I do have the Olloclip's telephoto and I can confirm that it doesn't work with Apple's camera app. Neither in Portrait Mode neither if you touch to the 2x button. Apple's camera app doesn't switch to the Iphone Plus telehpto lens everytime you select 2x, depending on the situation it keeps using the normal lenses and does some trick with digital zoom.
So to use Olloclip's Telephoto lens you need a third party app that can switch between the two cameras as your desire, and than you can attach the Telephoto to power up iPhone's own Telephoto. It will give you an 4x optical zoom, with great image quality.

I do love how these Olloclip's lens sets works.

Thank's! Could you, please, share some 4x zoom images?

P.S. Olloclip replied as well saying their telephoto doesn' work with portrait mode.

Sure!

In those pictures you can compare the extra zoom effected by the Olloclip Telephoto.

This one was shot With the regular Telephoto from iPhone:

That one with the Olloclip Telephoto + iPhone Telephoto

Those were shot with Olloclpi's attached to iPhone Telephoto:

It delivers good image quality, with detail fall off in the corners, but it is quite good!

Thank's a lot for those images. Zoom looks nice. The only issue seems to be corners as you told yourself as well.

Do any of you Olloclip users have glass screen protectors on your iPhone? I went into the Apple Store and the assistant said it would crack my screen.

Olloclip suggest that a screen protector up to 0.5mm is fine (though no guarantees), and the Belkin glass screen I have is only 0.21mm?

I'm seriously tempted by the Moment lens (and Battery phone case) as a result, but it's a lot of money for the (very) amateur photographer I am.

The Zeiss Exolens is dearer again.

I'm an iPhone 7 not 7 plus user.

I don't have screen protectors. I can't say.

But for IPhone 7, the Telephoto will be a must. Using the Olloclip Telephoto with the standard and stabilized lens produces great results. You will love it!

Anyone uses the fisheye lense? It will be in the set I ordered, but I can't really imagine where I could use it... Maybe when I can play around with it, it will seem different...
[doublepost=1496138286][/doublepost]P.S. Internet tells me it can be used for shooting entire ceilings and 180 angle...maybe it's not so 'bad'
