Today I Pretty much gave up on apple let me tell you my story,

I Saved up for a shiny new 24" on Nov. 26 i got my first iMac i went with the 2,8ghz model since i figured i did'nt want to buy another pc for a couple years so i mind aswell go all out right? WRONG!

Well within 2 weeks i notice a screen condensation, so im like okay well see if it goes away.. it kept itching at me since i did pay 2300 dollars for this thing.. So i brought it in and Apple gave me a new one, so im on my second iMac everythings great again thanks to time machine i got all my crap within 2 hrs just how it was before, 2 weeks later i got the same condensation on the same place, so i think long and hard about it and decide.. the new iMacs just aren't built right let me just get a Mac Pro and get this over with.

Sooo i go to apple store and of course they want to give me a new one like last time so i tell them i want the mac pro and they’re fine with that, so i spend and extra 1000 dollars for a stupid monitor which isn’t even that great anyways rush home hook it up install WoW log on and CHOKE I CANT EVAN PLAY WOW MAXED OUT ON MY 23" ACD Like i did on my 24" iMac everything lagged horribly i couldnt evan move in **** city..

so after spending 3500$ just to play my World of warcraft flawlessly and not deal with the iMac screen crap i still can’t play WOW, so i bring it back and tell them i want another imac and told them how big a piece of crap there Mac pro is, (I DONT CARE WHAT YOU GUYS THINK BUT IF YOUR SPENDING 2500$ ON A TOWER YOU BETTER MAKE DAMN SURE THAT THING WILL OUT PERFORM THE IMAC, SINCE AFTER IT IS THERE FLAGSHIP MODEL)

so i get home hook up my third imac turn it on and OMFG it sound like a loose wire is hitting one of the fans in the iMac so after tilting the screen back and forth that went away... next day same thing! So i bring it back again... NOW IM ON MY FOURTH IMAC and of course everything is dandy until 3 weeks later I GOT SCREEN CONDENSATION AGAIN!

So i call apple care and they don’t know what to tell me, so i settled on getting my screen cleaned and they told me to call local apple store, so i call up next morning when i woke up and i was 2nd person inline on hold after about 10 mins i got fed up with waiting and just put it on speaker phone and played World of warcraft, apple ended up KEEPING ME ON HOLD FOR 3 1/2 HOURS!!! they straight up weren’t even answering there phones wtf is that?? so i call apple care tell the guy my story and tell him how frustrated i am and how i want to go down to the local apple store and scream at the manager, and what does he say?? He said he thinks i should go down there and tell manager and how unprofessional they are and if the problem wasnt solved he would refer my case number to a product specialist for my next call.

So while im on hold i took my whole hour drive up to apple for like the 6th time ( NO THEY ARENT PAYING FOR MY GAS!!) and i ask to talk to the manager , he comes out i show him my phone, of course he’s clueless like every other dumbass standing around in that store and i show him my phone and tell him ive been on hold now for 3 1/2 hours listening that "Your the next call to be answered please hold on the line and apple representative will be with you shortly" and he tells me that’s impossible and wanted to know why i was here, So i made sure everyone in the store hear me and i told him how I’m sick of driving back and fourth getting a new imac every couple weeks and after waiting 3 1/2 hours on the phone i know you guys don’t care about your customers and i really just want my money back, and that’s exactly what i got.. they gave me my 2400 dollars cash exactly what i played no check no BS, i left there bought an HP quad core and a 24" monitor got home and installed World of warcraft and iTunes and its sooo much faster when using cover flow it would lag so bad flicking through my covers this thing just fly’s right by them (AND YES I HAD 4GB OF MEMORY IN MY IMAC)

THE POINT OF THIS STORY IS APPLE HARDWARE JUST SUCKS AND JUST BUILD OR BUY A PC AND INSTALL WINDOW OR LINUX.

NOW PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR OPINION SORRY IF THIS SOUNDS ANGRY BUT I JUST WENT FROM BEING A HUGE APPLE FAN TO COMPLETELY DESPISING THEM IN A MATTER OF THE LAST 2 MONTHS.
ALSO WHATS FUNNY IS AS SOON AS I SHOULD THEME MY PHONE 2 MINUTES LATER I CALL AND THEY'RE ANSWERING PHONES ! HMM!!!

p.s.

I SHOULD OF JUST KEPT MY MACMINI!

I think you mean "Omg Apple Sucks, for what I want to use them for, ..."

A blanket "Apple sucks" comment isn't going to get you any sympathy here.

I do think Apple have totally screwed up in gaming terms. But then, they don't make the graphics cards. Do they write the drivers for them?

You've had some really bad luck.

On the other hand, you don't give an impression of being a rational person. Also, I think that they were pretty generous replacing your stuff that many times.

Have fun with your HP, I've heard they're pretty nice!

edit: you probably want to update your signature :p

Each to his own. I'm happy with my MBP and have been with all my Apple products since I started using Macs in 1989.
If you weren't happy with the build quality of the iMac then you were justified in returning it. The MacPro, well to be honest the graphics card isn't the fastest in the world and the whole lineup should be updated very soon. Perhaps some simple research would have saved you some grief. The phonecall? I'd have hung-up and called back. I'd say you were treated rather well by Apple, several Macs and still a cash refund. Hope you are happy with your new PC, personally I prefer Apple, but as I said...each to his own.

They should have told you that you need more than the 1GB of base ram for 4 cores on the Mac Pro.

The iMac condensation problem is obviously quite real.

NOW PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR OPINION SORRY IF THIS SOUNDS ANGRY BUT I JUST WENT FROM BEING A HUGE APPLE FAN TO COMPLETLY DESPISING THEM IN A MATTER OF THE LAST 2 MONTHS.

My first opinion is that you should try incorporating punctuation and paragraphs into your writing. Most people won't even read your post because it's a huge solid block of writing without any structure. Sorry, but it's true.

My second opinion is that you were unlucky to buy an iMac that had a condensation problem. Apple do have some quality control problems with some of their computers - especially their first generation models (which yours was). And you obviously got stuck in a telephone loop to be on hold for 3.5 hours. Many years ago I worked in a computer company's helpdesk, and if we wanted to go home and there was a call or two still in the queue, we'd just cut them off. Hahaha those were the days...

My third opinion is that you should learn some more about computer hardware so that you don't fall into the trap of buying a computer which is not designed for the purpose you intend it for. For example, a Mac Pro comes with a very basic video card for gaming. You shouldn't expect it to perform like a high end card (such as my nVidia 8800GTS!). And AFAIK, WoW doesn't support quad cores natively so you won't get any benefit from that either.

Basically, you did the right thing to simply go and buy a PC for games. I did the same thing. But I still love my iBook for other tasks, such as web browsing and email. It's nearly perfect at what it does.

Where do you live? Some electronics just don't mix well with areas of very high humidity regardless of how many different times you purchase the same model...

I am on my 2nd iMac... 1st had the gradient issue. But I was so impressed with the way Apple took care of me that I bought (2) 20" iMacs for my wife and son for Xmas.

And for the record, I am still trying to get used the fact that I don't have to tweak a registry, and all the other custom configurations to get windows to work the way I would like. I don't miss that.

Sorry to hear about the condensation and other issues.

apple has one of the better track records as quality goes. you just got unlucky...
I hear this a lot on these forums when people talk of their problems, but in my experience I know more people who've bemoaned Apple's QC than any other generic PC manufacturer. Is it because Apple have an unfounded image of quality and therefore disappoint more often?

...you don't give an impression of being a rational person. Also, I think that they were pretty generous replacing your stuff that many times...
I don't really see why the guy wanting a working machine and being pissed off with the hassle of having to go to and fro to the store because of Apple's QC or design problems could be called irrational. Surely it'd be irrational to accept the situation.

Problems with your car, your iPhone, your MacBook Pro, 4 different iMacs and a Mac Pro? No offense, but I hope never to wind up on an airplane flight with you (and your luck)! Your experiences defy odds.

Well after I got home from work after of long day dealing with my car dealership with warranty issues my iPhone slider wont slide to unlock so.... after restoring it and finally getting to the desktop none of the 4 icons on the bottoms are responding to my touch so basically i need a new iphone since the last row of icons is not responsive to any touches....

So as if not going through 4 imacs in the past 2 weeks isnt bad enough i sucked it up bought a macbook pro last week its been great until..... 5 minutes ago i walk into my living room to use the laptop real quick and .... MY LID WONT CLOSE!!!

I myself am on my 4th iMac the first 2 had screen condensation and backlight bleeding aswell and 3rd it sounded like a wire was hittting the fan

I'm pretty sure I've got the gist of the OP:

Hi.

I bought an iMac and took it out of the box and turned it on while it was still cold. Due to stupid physics, the cold inner glass allowed condensation to form. Clearly, Apple has a design flaw in that the inside of the system is not hermetically sealed, and they didn't even bother to make it so the Mac won't turn on until it's warmer than the dew point in the room.

I repeated this a number of times, because sometimes the laws of physics change over the course of a few weeks.

Then I got a Mac Pro with the stock graphics card, which is known not to be a 3D or "gaming" card, and I was frustrated by its inability to play WoW. Similarly, my Porsche can't even bring a friggin' sofa home from WalMart, something my cheap Chevy truck has no problem with at all.

Macs suck.

I tried to read the post as well, got lost after the first sentance.

I have watched Apple for years, since like '87. Did lots of reading on the new iMacs before I finally bought one so I was prepared for most things that could happen. Only think I experienced was the graphics card driver issue which I was a beta tester for the drivers and they fixed.

You had a bad experience and from what I read I'm sorry, I can't sympathize. Sounds like you were pretty brazen. They did what they could do and what you wanted to do didn't jive up you blanket an "Apple Sucks" isn't winning points.

If that sounds harsh then oh well. I'm to the point whining is just a waste of time.

Sorry you had a bad experience. But next time rant in textedit then delete the file instead of wasting others time.

I had exactly the same thought... The iMac does not produce the water but the glass (like any other glass surface) will gather it in the right circumstances. I bet if the OP looks at their windows in their home, there is condensation on them as well... Just a hunch.

Both you and jsw make a good point, I wonder if Apple mentioned this to the OP during his many conversations? If they did, then I wonder if this was the problem. If they didn't, how dumb must they feel reading it on a forum?

Would be good to hear back from the OP or anybody else with the same problem as to whether this was, or at least was ever suggested by Apple as the cause.
