Took mine in for a replacement several weeks back due to proximity sensor issue.

My original iP4 was fine until I put 4.1 on it. Went for replacement and got the exchange. The first thing I did was make a call from the Apple Store. All seemed well.

Got home to find that 4.1 wasn't installed, but 4.02. I had to update to 4.1 in order to backup from a restore for all my data. I think you see where this is going ....

Did the install of 4.1, restore from backup and BOOMSTICK! Still have the effing proximity sensor issue.

The way I hold my phone, it doesn't touch my face so hangups and the like aren't the problem. The annoying as hell problem I have is what appears to be a freak'n firework show going on between my face and iPhone at night or in a low lit room and it drives me absolutely ******* crazy. On and off, on and off really quick and I'm not even moving the phone.

I'm not going to get yet ANOTHER replacement in hopes that it will be one that doesn't have the issue. My luck will be that the proximity sensor is fine but something else is a problem. I'm done effing with it.

So yay my fix is to turn down the brightness all the way at night. Goodtimes! :(
