I would agree that the ipod is sensitive to shock. Some of you have dropped your ipod and has it has survived (including me). But since it is a hard drive it quite sensitive to shock. the ipod as 32 meg buffer, so when u drop the ipod the hard drive is most likely that the hd is off, but when the ipod is reading hard drive it is very sensitive to shock. the arm of the hard drive can tucked away when the hd is off. my ipod's the last fall was only 2 feet and broke it, which it has survived one other larger fall, but it died because it was reading the hd when it fell. (I just turned it on right below it fell) some of ibm's notebook has accelerometers to shut off the hd in case if u drop ur laptop. the ipod doesn't have this feature. it is just common sense they should include feature b.c an mp3 play gets alot more shock esp. when it is on then a laptop.
