What airline, seriously curious so I can avoid it. I primarily fly jet blue across country and they have plugs and American overseas with plugs. Course in the old old old days we carried an extra battery.

Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines are two that come to mind right now (of course, it depends on the plane you get)

What about the audio? Anyone seated right next to you can hear what you’re watching/doing? Reviews all say the audio bleeds.

I just took a flight myself, it’s a game changer for flying! I didn’t go fully immersive until after they served drinks and snacks. The flight attendant got a kick out of me interacting with her wearing it. She was like “what are you seeing??” I gestured into space in the aisle and said “I’ve got a whole imax going on down there…” and she was impressed 😂

I did get a bit of a headache after a while (5 hour flight), but probably my own fault for forgetting to pack the dual loop band

The funny thing is, on planes peoples wear eye covers anyway, to sleep. So I get why no one would care.

I actually thought the cover that comes with the AVP to cover the front glass is quite a nice look. It would be cool if you could slot something on like that and just use the AVP with cover on, without blocking fans. At least that way it wouldn't look so 'headset' like, and you wouldn't have to fret on inadvertent scratches in such a confined space.

I did ask my wife if she could hear a video I was playing in the hotel without airpods, and she said she could hear it at times.
I wonder about the potential use cases of the AvP (not Aliens Vs Predator) in a hotel room. I mean, everything from
Snapchat beauty-filters to full on tentacle hentai should be possible, right? Maybe that's the killer-app? (Kissing is probably not that great with v1)

Hopefully something with googly eyes. It's a shame that the front dispays are so dim - maybe someone could have made an apo that shows cartoon eyes (like the ones from Bender of Futurama)

I’m currently on a flight with my AVP. Immersed in the moon environment with multiple screens open, not hunched over my laptop or worrying about whether others can see my screen. This is awesome. It automatically detected that I was in flight and let me activate travel mode. Paying for Wi-Fi was simple enough with wallet. No way I could go back to working or watching movies on a plane the old way!

I didn’t want to freak the flight attendant out, so I took it off briefly for the snack round. I think persona is disabled, so he wouldn’t have been able to see my eyes anyway.
Wow, that sounds incredible! Being in the moon environment with multiple screens on AVP during a flight looks like a game-changer! No more laptop or worrying about prying eyes. Can't imagine going back to the old way of working or watching movies on a plane.AVP gives the futuristic vibes.

Nice! I have a 5 hour flight coming up this weekend and will be interested in long term comfort. I'll pack both bands just in case.

I'm doing my first flight on Thursday, its going to be over 4 hours. How was your experience with inflight charging?

I haven't done any testing, but since the monitor is off on the MacBook, has anyone seen a dramatic increase in battery life on their laptop? Or is it offset by additional computing power?

I really love the travel case. The materials feel cool and futuristic but also obviously throwback retro. Design is stellar. Hah.

I have yet to test it in real world, multi continent travel but I will do so soon.

My ONE complaint is the zippers. They seem small and prone to sticking/jamming on the fabric.
I use my oculus travel case and it fits it perfectly and protects the lenses too. I can just fit a 16 inch MacBook Pro and the headset into my backpack.

My flights last weekend were all on planes with outlets, so no issues charging with the included brick. I'll be curious to hear about USB ports on planes without outlets.

Good question re the MacBook.

Even better, imagine having the moon bus from 2001 as an environment with the lunar landscape scrolling by. Then the flight attendant comes by to take your beverage order.

I wonder if a software update will increase the brightness of eyesight. In all lighting conditions, it seems to select a brightness level that's too dim.

I played around with this in front of a mirror, and if I turned on the light, the eyesight display would automatically increase in brightness (but it still looked dim for the brightly lit room).

Then when I switched the light off, eyesight looked nice and bright in the dark room, but only for a moment. It auto-dimmed again and went back to...dim.

I almost forgot: The real reason I pulled up this thread was to make this (admittedly mostly useless) post:

I just booked a flight to Australia, departing in a couple weeks. It's been very interesting to hear about folks' early in-air experiences. I'm really looking forward to trying this out on a long flight.

I do wonder if anyone has a recommendation for a power bank that would pair well with the AVP? I should have in-seat power, but you never know do you? Broken outlets, etc. can be a bummer if you don't plan ahead. Given the AVP's power-hungry nature, I imagine I want to get a power bank with the highest capacity permitted by the FAA. Anyone have favorites?

20000mah from Anker. Any of them.

Best Flight Ever….

Just did a 2.5 hour flight from Miami to Guatemala. Was in the middle seat, but pulled up the Yosemite Environment and I felt a million miles away. Launched a music playlist. Then opened the book I’m writing and did proofing and edits. Not a single hiccup even with some turbulence. Seriously, I’ll never travel without the AVP again.

I used Apple AirPods Pro.

Had a power bank but didn’t need it. Ended with 28% battery left.

Kept my hands low in lap and kept to myself. I’m now about 20 hours in and getting really good at navigating quickly.

Depends a lot on your security status.

I have Global Entry / PreCheck so I never take any of my electronics out at any US TSA checkpoint.

As for foreign airport security, I would put in my carry on backpack and have the electronics on top ready to pull out.

It would scan just like any other electronics so no issue anywhere in the world.
I too have Global Entry/Precheck and have for well over a decade. I have had to take my electronics out when I have more than 1 in the same bag routinely

In December, I flew out of Nashville with no TSA pre. Despite my backpack containing an iPad Pro 12.9", digital camera, and my Mac Mini, they had me keep it all in my backpack.

On the way back from New Orleans, I had to take it all out.

I guess it depends on their scanning equipment and/or local policy.

This cracked me up 🤣
