So glad to hear this.

I have used Xreal glasses to watch a show on a plane but they get hot after a while plus too much light bleeds in
quest 2 was a pain bc of it’s boundary and poor UI. Quest 3 still has relatively poor PQ and UI.

what about protecting the head set? Which case and I assume you got Apple care ?

Thanks

I used the Apple travel case. It fit fine in my backpack and held everything I needed. I have the Spigen travel case on backorder but might cancel it after my positive experience with the official one.

Did your head start to hurt after a while or did leaning back help?
that’s my sole issue w this device after one day of use.

I set it up carefully so I can manipulate it quite rapidly w the pinching. Unlike some people who feel it’s too slow.

I’m currently on a flight with my AVP. Immersed in the moon environment with multiple screens open, not hunched over my laptop or worrying about whether others can see my screen. This is awesome. It automatically detected that I was in flight and let me activate travel mode. Paying for Wi-Fi was simple enough with wallet. No way I could go back to working or watching movies on a plane the old way!

I didn’t want to freak the flight attendant out, so I took it off briefly for the snack round. I think persona is disabled, so he wouldn’t have been able to see my eyes anyway.
Thanks for posting your experience about this. I got my Vision Pro on launch day and have been using it every day since. Before I got it, I was saying I would never use it outside the house. Now I can't imagine I'll ever go on a work trip without it. I hate flying and I hate hotels. This will help with both for sure.

Did anyone say anything to you at all about it? Thoughts on travel case? I have it but haven’t even unzipped it yet. It’s so white I don’t want to get it dirty for no reason. Haha. It fit fine in your backpack and you had your MacBook? That’s awesome.

Last question - you said you pressed the Digital Crown to recenter safari properly but doesn’t pressing that just bring up the Home Screen with apps and such?

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for taking your time to answer everyone and share your experience. My first flight is in less than two weeks. I thought I would just leave it at home since it’s such a novel thing and didn’t want to be bothered by others on the flight etc.
This question made me wonder--what's it like getting a Vision Pro through security at the airport? Do they make you take the headset out?

Lol, just saw an ad from Apple where the whole focus was to entertain yourself while on a plane.

It was only a couple of hours each way, but I was leaning back and didn't have any discomfort. The real test will be my 5 hour flight this weekend.

Don’t those flights have power outlets though? I can’t remember the last time a flight of mine over 2 hours didn’t have a plug.
Iceland Air doesn’t offer AC outlets. Just FYI as I found this out the hard way thinking it was like all my domestic flights with AC outlets. Oddly enough there were 120VAC outlets in the bathrooms but I didn’t test them for power.

could you elaborate on 'set it up carefully'? are these software settings or perhaps how you orientate yourself with it in physical space. My pinching could stand some improvement. :)

do you use yours sitting at a desk? just curious. I use mine predominantly on a couch. I would not say I was leaning back much but my head is at least partially supported and I have worn mine for over 5 hours at a time with no issue. I havent brought mine into work to test at a desk for 2 reasons, 1) I have a three monitor set up that does okay, and 2) worried I would get too distracted (well more than I already am) and I need to do some work while at work.

I did the set up during my first demo and it worked perfectly.
Second time it was during the demo before pickup. And the eye plus pinch wasn’t working well

So I realized that we needed to redo it. I first settled the head set perfectly then carefully eyed the dots and pinched.

At home I repeated that process. It has worked flawlessly.

the only area which is less responsive is when grabbing the edge to expand or shrink. I think that’s more of a bug bc it never fails anywhere else.

The first day I did it sitting at a desk which resulted in intense pain between my shoulder blades.
Now I recline a bit to support my head. Also wrapped a stretch band from the back strap to pull down as a pulley to take the load off from the front of my face.
I have ordered a contraption designed for the quest to see if that works until 3rd party alternatives are released.

What are the best airlines for international flights for streaming video and music with the AVP? United is bad because it only allows basic web browsing and texting.

Can't you just download your videos and music? I imagine streaming 3D videos through airplane wifi would not be pleasant.

Problem is since apps like Netflix don't support it you can't download their content for offline viewing.
