I am on a jailbroken iPhone 3G 2.2 and from what I have been told I cannot update through iTunes as that will brick the iphone. So how do I update to the new firmware when there is one?

Thanks in advance.

You can't just update, you have to do a restore, and then an update in itunes. Then you wait for the dev team's new version of pwnage tool. Your phone will not be bricked from using itunes. A JB phone can be synced and updated in itunes.

there is a way to back up jail broken apps, but that involves using ssh to back up the jail broken files. to do this there are a few video tutorials on youtube.
