On my second MacBook Pro Retina, soon to be number 3!

My first MacBook Pro retina (2.7/16/768) had a major fan issue. The rpm would go up to 9000 each. In addition, some initial install files were corrupted. Apple nicely replaced it.

One week with the new one started freezing constantly. Usually at around 30-50 minutes. The fans go up to about 3800, and run way too frequently at that speed. I have an appointment at Genius Bar tomorrow as Apple Care can't resolve this.

Has this happened to anyone else? This is my first apple computer. It's a great machine, but these issues are just ridiculous for something I paid close to $4000 for.

Perhaps you can tell us what programs or games you are running when your fans go up???? Are you using Windows or OSX? You still running external monitors and crunching photos and music and who knows what else and expecting the computer to not generate heat??

So your on your 3rd Retina Macbook Pro...Now I am re-thinking if I should buy one now or later..I am seeing alot of forums about issues with these NEW RELEASES! I would think after 3 months it will be all fixed...I really hope this is a rare small issue some people are having issues with......mmm
 
Officially got my third one today. This one after 10 days had corrupt memory failure!!!
 
If the computer is hot, the fans will spin up. That's normal.

If the computer running something intensive, it will look like it's locking up. This is normal.

I don't know what you had before, but this is how computers work these days. Doesn't matter if the computer is $500 or $5000; all the same.

Which panel screen did you get? LP or LSN? I think the LG panels have a deeper black and more detail. Let me know...I am thinking to get one around Christmas and I really hope all the issues will be resolved!!

There were no issues. He was doing heavy computing and using external monitors and wondering why the fans were turning on.
 
I shall never buy a first-gen anything from Apple again!

The first iPhone, the first Intel MacBook Pro, the first MagSafe adapter, the first MacBook Air, all of them were disastrous with countless failures and all of them were resolved and never heard of again, in later iterations.

Well, maybe not "disastrous" but I'd agree the QA has suffered lately and it is disappointing.
 
I wish I only had to swap twice. It took me 6 tries to get one with a) Samsung display and b) no cosmetic damage.

I quite like working for Apple's QA team - I wonder when the cheques start to arrive.
