Here's a real noob question: What application is used to design and animate on screen graphics on TV?

For example, CNN has their split screen with a customized background when an interviewee is not in the same studio as the interviewer.

Also, is that same app used to design the intro of a tv show? In that case, a good example would be the Larry King Live intro with animated objects...

I'm clueless... can anybody clear it up for me?

    Thanks in advance! :)

I would wager Adobe's After Effects is heavily used.

    Thank you! That's it! :)

I had seen somebody's work with After Effects when I was working at a design studio a few years ago and I was impressed. I'm seeing the need for that kind of power now and couldn't remember which app I needed to be looking for.

Does Apple have anything comparable or is Adobe alone in that market?

Motion is being pushed in the direction of After Effects, but AE is certainly the king.

Motion is more capable than many give it credit for, but AE is where the industry is.
