I think it's become the cool thing to do, hate on Samsung and moan about lag and how horrible Touchwiz is.

Now I'm 100% sure I'm getting the note 4. The only thing that kept me in the Apple ecosystem was the content in terms of TV shows. Now that amazon have just released an app for their streaming service/store for android that makes both android and apple equal in terms of ecosystems IMO.

Looking more and more like the Note 4 for me as well. And I will not have to concern myself with the iPhone availability everywhere. Lines forming in NYC already.

I do miss the integration with my Mac and iPad. I have an S5 currently and cannot upgrade until May anyway. Of course I will take a long look at the iPhone 6/Plus, but my Android phone pretty much does everything the new iPhones do. The payment solution is cool, I could never get Google Wallet to work anywhere, if it works, I may jump back but I may not.

There are design features which bother me, the camera bezel sticks out, it is still 8 Megapixels, Apple is STILL making consumers go up $100 for doubling the SSD space. The watch is $349 to start and oly works with the iPhone. Jury for me is out on that one.

Yes, they are late to the game in display resolution though I believe mainstream devices didn't start using 1080 until 2013 (HTC One and Galaxy S4 being the first) but no devices utilize a 4K display either. Better check your terminology/facts before slinging accusations.

I'm getting the either the Note 4 or Note Edge.
I didn't really see anything in the iPhone 6 or 6+ that is different than what the current 5S has besides the bigger screen.
Still no widgets which is a big negative for me.
Jury is still out on the battery life but I doubt it will last as long as the Note 4 with the power save option.

BTW there are many phones that shoot 4K video and a few have 2560x1440 displays.

I'm telling ya. On my Nexus 4, everything is super clear WE DON'T NEED HIGHER RESOLUTIONS!

I had the LG G3 and the display was absolutely stunning. The only reason I didn't keep it was because I wanted to see what the Note 4, iphone 6+, and MotoX+1 had up their sleeves. I plan on getting the Note 4 and 6+ (work pays for one, my wife is letting me use her upgrade as she wants my 5S).

A lot of smart people said we don't need a lot of things. Yet we keep getting fed them and they start becoming the industry standard with someone/everyone always playing catch up.

We might not need it now but no need to hold back technology. Having extra features never hurt.

Sure it can. Excessive, unnecessary software features can bog down an OS. Similarly, an excessively high display resolution uses more power--affecting battery performance and the GPU.

Just because you can do it doesn't mean you should do it.

The iPhone 6 Plus is really big and heavy, compared to the LG G3.

Not impressed by the size/weight, pretty disappointing, plus 100 extra on top - although would wait to see it in-store.

Size Comparison

Funny how plus size Android phones gets blasted for their unwieldiness, and then Apple goes ahead and releases their iPhone 6+ with the largest dimensions.

I know what you mean but that's obviously not what I'm talking about. Having a screen that's better than 720p for example isn't hurting anyone.

What's "excessive" specs now won't be later and someone has to be an early adopter or tech comes to a standstill.

My logic is simple, my budget is $299 and my min memory required is 32 gig.

There is no 32GB iPhone 6, and even if there were you answered your own question with the budget constraints... $299 will get you a 16GB iPhone 6 Plus (under your mem requirement), leaving you with the Note 4.

I'm also between the iPhone 6+ and the Note 4. This is what I posted in another Note 4 vs iPhone 6+ thread...

Ok the pros of the iPhone 6+ is the smaller width, depth and weight. It might be taller but that's not something that will affect how you hold the phone unless you place your fingers on the top and bottom of the phone.

The camera and its functions seems to be better as well on the iPhone 6+. The slow-motion, time-lapse and cinematic functions are pretty cool.

Build quality, all metal compared to Note with its plastic back.

The iPhone 6+ has a 1080p screen which will require less power and battery to handle than a QHD screen, seriously QHD is just overkill! 720p resolution on my old Note 2 was fine. The QHD display will only make the Note 4 slower. The white colors on the iPhone's LCD screen will also be pure white compared to yellow/green/pink/blue whites on the amoled screen of the Note 4.

The biggest pro in my opinion for iPhone 6+ is iOS. Nicer looking and just a smoother experience. Touchwiz is a lagging hell and the bloatware on Samsung phones are just awful, you could root it but it's pretty risky. I wouldn't do it to a new 700 euro phone. Plus it requires some technical skills most people don't have.

However, the Note 4 is cheaper, has upgradable storage with up to 128gb sd cards and has a S-Pen which comes in handy sometimes. The amoled screen is gorgeous with vibrant colors and black colors being completely black/turned off. Amoled screens don't seem to have light bleeding, I haven't seen one with it compared to LCD which it's very common (returned my iPad Air for this reason). Only downside of the amoled screen are some pretty nasty viewing angles with white colors not being pure white as I've mentioned. There is also the risk of the mura effect with a faint grid like pattern/lines visible on the entire screen, google search "mura effect amoled". All my amoled devices had that issue.

Meh...
Camera too soon to tell, OIS on both of them. I liked my camera on the 5s better than the Note 3 so I think Apple may win, but who knows.

build quality: Note 3 has as good of build quality as the 5s IMO. Looking at those janky antenna lines on the ip6+ and I'll bet the Note 4 has a better build. All metal back is a large negative IMO, requires a case not to scratch or dent it, less grip, and you can't remove the back to replace the battery or access a micro SD card, which the iPhone doesn't have anyway. Big points to the Note 4 there.

Screen versus battery: Dunno, might be valid depending on battery time. Has Samsung released battery times? Apple says what 12 hours wifi browsing I think? I'll bet it's pretty even though even with the higher resolution, my Note 3 is a freakin monster when it comes to battery life.

Touchwiz lag, IMO complete and utter BS nonsense. I don't have any lag on my Note 3. Better experience is subjective, but I do tend to agree that iOS is just a bit simpler in many aspects, but it's not like it's rocket science to learn Android either.

No comparsion on features IMO. S-pen, multi windows, micro SD card etc just trounce what the ip6+ has to offer. Plus I think the aesthetics are much nicer on the N4, much smaller bezels, the backing looks and feels nicer IMO. The only thing I fear is that the fingerprint sensor will suck on the N4 like the S5, I really miss the FP sensor on the iPhone which was virtually perfect.

And the consensus is the higher resolution displays aren't bringing much of anything to the table other than more detailed wallpaper.

It's "utter bs nonsense" in your case, while many people with higher standards have experienced the obvious lag/delay slow speed on the Note 3. Don't believe me? Just do a search for yourself, I'm not making it up. I experienced this myself. People who claim the Note 3 has no lag is either fanboys in denial or people who don't put their phones to heavy use. I wonder which one you are?

I'm pretty jaded with this lag talk. There are scenarios where I can make both my gs4 Ge and iPad air lag. In practical use, neither lag. Meh

Do a search for iOS lag and you'll find results too
Does safari tab refresh syndrome count as lag?

I'm Honestly on the fence as well. The main thing holding me back on the Note 4 is, will Samsung improve on their internal radio performance, and I'm not just referring to good areas. Samsung reception struggles in poor areas, reception jumps around quite a bit and I've noticed that iPhones generally do not have this issue. For someone who works out on remote locations a lot, it's sort of a big factor for me.

Now I must weigh whether the functionality of the Note is more important than having a bigger screened iPhone. Also, I think I'm done carrying around 2 phones. It has become too much of a hassle (costly as well) so I plan on selling my Note 3 and iPhone 5s to finance the 1 device I'll stick with for the foreseeable future.

Right now, I'm leaning towards the Note 4.

I'll count myself lucky then that the 2 note 3's I've owned are the only ones made with no lag. The 2 nexus 5's I've had also had no lag. Lucky me.

By the way, do a search on ios7 lag on Google.
