This (feature-wise) looks very interesting. They really seeming to offering an alternative to Lr/Ps with a new mobile app and a cloud/sync app.

When I switched from Aperture to Lightroom I did not bother even trialling their software because all the comments online were very negative about the quality of their software. I'll be very interested to read the review when this becomes available in October.

I gave on1 a trial recently. It’s not bad, but the layout does seem a bit chaotic. After 30 days I had adapted and could use it as my regular editor. However, I’m not sure I wish to part with $100 for it. Affinity Photo does a good job other than the lack of DAM, which I could see being a big deal for heavy users.

Still no frequency separation. All these apps claim how great they are for portraiture photography etc. but still lacks this essential feature. And its been requested many times. I don't understand this.

I'm waiting for Pixelmator Pro or On1 or something else to introduce it and will THEN buy their software.
If neither do it soon then I'll just go with Affinity and learn that (even though I didn't really enjoy their UI xp).

Also the Browse import capability may not work for you depending on how you how you want destination folders structured and file renamed. It is missing many tokens (mostly EXIF files) such as camera body serial number that are in Lr, Photo Mechanic, and C1P. IMHO the Browse module is not ready for prime time. No indication that Browse is improved in 2020.

I am going to hold off on 2020 as I try to master workflow on 2019. While I have others - Affinity, Capture 1, PS/LR...and would have Paintshop Pro which I used for decades prior to PS/LR, but Corel hasn't created a Mac version. Of them all, I consider Capture 1 the weakest and most limiting at Sony only with the moderate pricing (but aggressive update policy). Corel's excuse to use Parallels is a nightmare useless as Windows won't read Apple formatted drives where the photos are and saves to the small Windows partition. GRRRRR! As I retire, I cut expenses with my "dump Adobe" campaign. Have been successful with most other programs but just down from the full CC to the Photography Plan which expires in October. That is why trying to develop the workflow and will let it expire going 'naked' for a month or two, however the $99 upgrade for 2020 may go for renewal of LR/PS for another year. What I particularly like about On1 is it's ability to do true layers with 2 or more different files where Affinity and Capture One definition of layer is a single file and performing adjustment masks which they call layers. There is a reason they don't have a tutorial on sky replacement and the one they do have is tonal, hue adjustment of the existing sky.

The public beta of PR 2020 will be available later this month. The official release is in October.
