completely agreed, i remember when i had to move from my note 2 to the iphone5, it was the most frustrating situation for me, everything seemed so small, sometimes i'd get so angry that i'd literally throw my iphone( broke the screen once😱), i'm also eyeing the note 3 now, but this time i'm never going to a smaller screen

I don't know. I have a feeling if I bought this it wouldn't take long to go back to a smaller phone 😉
I don't personally understand 10" tablets. I'd rather just get an 11" Air - better battery, greater functionality, larger memory, arguably a better design.
I bought a Nexus 4 in February and I alternate between it and a 4S. Bigger isn't always better. Sometimes, I just really like iOS and my 4S.

I have the S4 and the Z10 currently, in an ideal world I'd love Android selection of apps and hardware in a device as great to use and operate in one hand as the 4.3" Z10.
So yeah contrary to the thread Title, I've gone big and would happily go back to a smaller size (albeit fractionally bigger than the 4" iPhone).

10 inch tablets are good for watching movies. That's what I use mine for. I also have a chromebook (googles version of the air) but I mainly use that for doing work on and taking to college as its very light and portable.
So I leave my 10 inch tablet and windows laptop at home and my ipad mini and chromebook are my on the go devices.

You know you can change the size of the text system wide on the S4?
Settings > my device > accessibility > font size.

After experimenting a lot with phones/tabs, my ideal gadget combo is
1. A phone 4-4.5 inch in size. I dont see any point in owning Note size phones as a portable tablet like mini or Nexus 7 is better for reading and gaming. I want something light and portable for a phone. Currently eyeing lumia 720.
2. 8 inch tablet. As much as a 7 inch device is appealing , 8 inch is the best form factor for a portable ,light weight tablet. I get much more screen estate to play with while using mini than any other 7 inch tablet.
3. 10 inch Tablet. PDfs/magazines are not good enough even on an 8 in screen. 10 in screen size is ideal for these purposes. Waiting for ipad 5

I can only go by my experiences of having an iPad when they first came out. I love watching films and TV shows on the 40min train journey to/from work.
The iPad: Had to be held or precariously balanced on my lap which then meant I needed to dip my head further down and strain my neck. 16GB memory held a surprisingly small amount so it needed to be regularly synced with iTunes.
MacBook Air: 256GB storage meant it held all my stuff, plays BBC iPlayer, ITV Player and 4OD (does the iPad do this now?), has a great design where the computer sits on my lap and the screen angles perfectly for watching - no hands needed! At the same time I could click over to MS Word/Excel to do some work and my video wouldn't stop playing.
I just don't really get tablets. My iPad lived in the toilet for most of it's like before I just gave it away. I might get the Nexus 7 but probably won't bother.

When I had my iPhone, I felt the Note 2 to be so big that I can't hold it single-handed. Now that I switched to the HTC One, holding the Note 2 seems very normal😀

Yea the iPad has an app for all the catch up channels (bbc iplayer, 4od, itv player, 5 on demand and catch up TV, sky go etc). You can also get 128 GB versions now, so plenty of space to store things. I get what your saying about 10 inch tablets being bulky for travelling. I commute for 2 hours each way. The first tablet I bought was the galaxy tab 2 10.1 and it was horrible carting it about on the tube and trains. So I got rid of it and got a nexus 7, which was much better for carrying around, but for various reasons I didn't like it, I found the screen too small. Then I got an iPad mini which is just perfect for my commute. Then I found that when I was at home I wanted a bigger tablet for watching videos. I thought I'd go for an android tablet to have something different to the iPad and so I got the tab 2 again.
I usually buy cases with multi-angle stands in them so that I don't have to hold my tablets.
The Samsung tablets have multi-tasking abilities. The note 10.1 has the multi window function that allows you to run two apps at the same time, split screen. On my tab 2, I have a pop video so I can watch a video in a pop up window and do something else, like web browse, do work or whatever.
You sound just like my OH, who moans about tablets being pointless. He says his phone and a laptop are all he needs 🙂

Oh god long story cut short... Someone asked me if I wanted to trade my Z10 or HTC One for their new S4 - I decided to give it a try but decided to keep the Z10 as something different rather than two Android devices. Intention was to flash GE Rom. Any way got the S4, all seemed well. flashed to GE. Then only after that was up and running I put my Sim Card in to discover SIM card reader was faulty in the device. So had to flash back, remove recovery and triangle away - root etc... Then send off to Samsung for repair. Took about 10 days in total and now I have it again. Will flash the 4.3 GE rom when it settles down (seemingly a new revision every other day currently).
So now I have the S4 & Z10. And will likely trade one or the other for something else sooner or later.

Of course - as you can with the iPhone. I'm done with this thread. The rationale here is that OBVIOUSLY a 5" phone will display larger images and text than a 4" phone because the display is larger....
Seriously? Do you people even understand how displays and resolutions work?

This is defiantly true. After leaving my iPhone 5 for the Samsung Galaxy Note II, I can't see myself going back to 4'' screen when I have a beautiful 5.5'' screen.

Key word is "system wide". It's still limited on the iPhone (applies only to Mail, contacts, calendar, messages and notes) ... don't know why they wouldn't include the browser though.

I first dumped the iPhone 5 for the Note 2, but after less than a week got cold feet and went back. Then, after about 6 week with an HTC One, I gave the Note another try, and have been smitten ever since. Even the 4.7" screen on the One seems small now.

I think it's all about what you are used to although some things are difficult to get used to. I used iPhones since 2008. 3.5 inches was fine for me. In 2012 my iPhone was stolen. I got a samsung galaxy Y as a replacement for a month while waiting for my upgrade to come. The screen was only 3 inches and I found that too small. Then I got a galaxy note (5.3 inches). At first it seemed big but then I got used to it. At the same time my OH still had his iPhone 4. After using the note for a while his 4 seemed too small, despite the fact that I had used the same phone for 2 years. After owning the note for 8 months I got and iPod touch 5th gen. At first the 4 inch screen seemed small, but after a while I got used to it. I actually use my iPod more than my phone now. Only use the note to make calls and sometimes make calls on my touch anyway. My next phone is more than likely going to be the 5S and I don't think I'll have any problems with a 4 inch screen if that is what it had.

I agree. Since getting my S4, I find that whenever I use an iPhone it just feels comically tiny, especially when the keyboard is up. It just reminds me of a Palm Pre now, the screens on those were always too small.
I had no problems going back from a Droid DNA 5 in. screen to the iPhone 5. The Galaxy S3 seems like a nice sized screen. I'm waiting on parts to fix one I bought on craigslist real cheap.

I had the G Pro for 3 days and found it to be too large and heavy for me. I feel like I found my sweet spot with the 5" screen on the S4 Active. It makes an enormous difference compared to the iPhone 5 which I was using since it first hit the market.
I would never use a phone with a screen smaller than 5" at this point. A 5" iPhone would be pretty wonderful. Apple really should have released it this fall instead of what will most likely be a 2014 release. Even then I hope it's not a 4.7" screen. .3" doesn't seem like much but I can tell the difference. Also the notification light on my S4 is something I never want to live without again.

As someone who likes to have his phone in his pocket, the 4.7'' of my Nexus 4 are enough. I don't feel the need to have an even bigger phone. Instead I'm eying the HTC One mini and also the new iPhone as possible new phones.
