Well I did go back to windows, played with Linux, now I miss the mac OS. i have icloud 127/200gb storage, iphones for ages, apple music, and just want to consolidate everything into one laptop. Love the mobility of the laptop, so no desktops. Plan on doing occasional gopro video editing for personal use, music listing, netflix, and web browsing. The past 2 laptops are 15" which im okay with. I typically keep my laptops til they break. Feel like the 15" MLH32LL/A $1799 is more future proof, but its also the first model year, so im worried about all the potential bugs. The 13" MPXT2LL/A $1349is attractive because its the second year model and affordable. What is your guys take on it?

Go with 15" as "bugs" were not generally hardware and you could consider its had longer to be sorted and will be a nicer O/A laptop with good bootcamp capabilities should you wish to dabble in the future

I vote for the third option (that doesn't exist). Wait. Buy the 2018 model so you give apple ample time to fix those "bugs" *cough* keyboard issues *cough*

If you need one, and have to buy now, then get the 2017 model, because people seem to be saying that is a bit better then the 16 keyboard failure wise.

I second the above post, either wait (best option right now) or if you need to buy asap get the 2017. The 2016 15" is a very powerful and capable machine, but the keyboard reliability issues really make it a difficult recommendation.

How great of a hurry are you in to buy?

Based on your usage, it sounds like the next generation MBP 13 may be a good match for your needs, if any of the anticipated upgrades come through. (The thing I am most excited about with the next generation is the potential for a massive increase in runtimes under normal and lighter usage.)

a massive increase in runtimes
Lol, hopefully not, haha :D

Jokes aside, the OP likes mobility and his usage is not extremely challenging, so I agree an improved 13", maybe with the rumored quad-core CPU, would be perfect. Not to mention the possibility of a keyboard fix, which might actually be one of the most important reasons to wait (Apple does know about the issue).

I stood every year for it to get better but now it’s like time to get a laptop. Doubt they will release anything til spring/summer.

Ended up with a 2016 MacBook Pro 256gb with AppleCare til 2020 for $500

O_O where is this magical deal of a nearly new computer with AppleCare for only $500?

I think it was a typo and maybe he meant $1500, could be or could be not. If you got it for $500 then enjoy! (And apple care to boot), it was practically free. :)

Crackhead on Craigslist. Ended up getting a monitor replacement since I had a vertical green line developing done the center of the screen. $400 repair covered under AppleCare.
Awesome machine

Damn! That is one hella deal. It is possible the keyboard issues on that machine drove the previous owner to crack.
