I feel like my 2019 MacBook Pro 15" keyboard has really broken in. Keys have great travel. No complaints. It feels perfect to type on.

Anyone else notice the same?

I never had a problem with the feel of them. It's a cool concept and I can type on them just as fast (neither faster nor slower) than your typical magic keyboard. The issue for me was always reliability. I had to carry around a can of compressed air in my travel bag or risk trying to get work done remotely with a key possibly not working. Imagine writing something without any As in it. Or Ns. Or the space bar decides it wants to get stuck. Or your D key starts writing like this, "DDear sir" You get the idea.

I haven't heard many complaints about the 2019 keyboards tho.

Maybe apple fixed it?

I have the 2018 15" MBP with 2019 keyboard replaced by Apple in November. I agree with you, so far no complaints and overall happy with it.

The problem seems to be that once it's broken in, the butterfly keyboard is often broken (at least pre-2019) :).

The new keyboard in the 16" seems to be much more reliable.

I've not heard any stories or problems with the 2019 keyboards. I had the 15 inch and no problems, while my 2018 13 inch needed to be repaired.....TWICE.

I think the more interesting question is whether we'd have a Magic Keyboard on the 16 inch today had the butterfly from 2016 been as reliable as the butterfly from 209.

And the 16 inch is more comfortable to type on as well.

No keyboard failures for 8 months.

...so maybe an improvement on the earlier version, but hardly subject to the test of time (...and do the more numerous MacBook Airs and entry-level 13" MBPs have it yet?). To be fair, though, the new scissor mechanism has had even less time for failures to manifest - we're just assuming that it is the same as the fairly well-proven "Magic Keyboard".

In terms of "feel" though, the question is not how many people love it, but how many hate it. If you're only going to have one keyboard mechanism across the whole range then you can't afford a 'marmite' keyboard - you need something that at least satisfies everybody (excluding the 'you can take my Model M with individual keyswitches when you pry it from my cold, dead, but remarkably callus- and RSI-free fingers' camp).

Personally (having extensively tried the Magic Keyboard on my iMac) I find that even that is a downgrade from the original, pre-2016 keyboard design (which had even more travel). That was probably the best low-profile keyboard in the industry, and I don't remember any complaints after the first flurry of IBM PCjr references from people who hadn't tried it (or experienced the silver atrocity that was the pre-unibody MBP keyboard) yet.

I upgraded to a 2019 MacBook Pro form one I had from 2014. Do not like the key oard on the new one. too sensitive or something, can be typing away and all of a sudden what I'm typing has gone back and putting the letters into something I typed several words back, or the whole email just disappears. is there a way to de-sensitize this thing?

My 2018 15" was pretty nice. Never had too many complaints or any trouble with the keyboard.

But with that said, I prefer the keyboard on my 2019 16". The key feel is better and i prefer the slightly longer key travel.
100% same experience/opinion for me too (going from a 2016 MBP -> 2019 16").

Mine always ended up breaking around the exact time I went travelling.. Moving to the 16" was a peace of mind and didn't have to carry my magic keyboard around anymore, since I spend 100% of my time in the linux terminal it gets complicated when I can't do a ~or a -... or even a cd.. because both c and . are broke lol
