But, not doing research means you have something to complain about. :) For years and years and years!

It's when you *need* to research in order to ensure 100% of what you've seen on a slick presentation is accurate, that things feel iffy and unscrupulous. How is that considered to be complaining?

That shouldn't be required.

Presumably the new iPhone Air also gets the 1.5x improvement when paired with AirPods Pro 3, but Apple doesn't explicitly say so.

If you remove the ca in the link it says this (https://www.apple.com/airpods-pro/#footnote-12):
12. Compared with AirPods Pro 2. Improved Precision Finding works with AirPods Pro 3 paired with iPhone Air or iPhone 17 models; availability varies by region.

Either it's inconsistent pages or maybe the iPhone Air's precision finding is limited in some counties.

The fact that companies can count on people NOT doing research is not the fault of the companies. And, it’s not limited to companies, this should be the standard operating procedure for ANY time someone wants your money. Whether it’s Microsoft or eBay, not doing research is a choice by the person spending their money.

There’s a LOT of people out there hoping that most folks make that choice.

I think there are actually more features available on older devices than I have noted before. Customisation of lock screen, including clock enlargement. The 3D photo realisation in Photos. The new features in Reminders and of course the Camera app. The main things missing seem to be anything associated with AI which was to be expected.

70's used car salesman cliche tactics...to rely the on consumer to verify the first half of your presentation, and fill in the other half on their own?

You believe that no one has tried to mislead anyone since the 1970’s? “As long as I’m not talking to a used car salesman in the 70’s, I can trust whatever this person is saying to me and whatever they’re showing to me! So glad the world is so trustworthy and I can spend my money freely knowing that I’m going to get exactly what their slick presentation shows with no research required whatsoever!”

I re-watched the Awe Dropping event intro for the AirPods Pro 3's and watches and carefully paid attention to when the features of Hypertension, live translate, and even Workout Buddy etc. were brought up. At face value, by spoken words and the pinboard graphic showing the features at the end of each segment, it most definitely sounds like all the described features arrive with the new AirPod Pros and new watches, etc., and NOT necessarily via the 26 operating system updates for certain prior-year hardware.

Shame on Apple and anyone who intentionally tries to deceive something they're selling.

Smart people know there are many out there who willingly mislead, either via intentional means or by holding back certain details, shameful as it may be. I expect more from myself, my child, my wife, my politicians, my favorite companies, my favorite websites, etc. I don't expect to have to investigate every point made on an advertisement, and nobody should.

And we unfortunately have to work within the world of who freely admit to being ok with being tricky and non-transparent when selling something:

Lack of transparency and honesty, just because a company or person can, does not make it acceptable.

With the number of new features that have been brought to existing Watches and Air Pods Pro 2, it is very likely that this is a hardware limitation. As if it would make sense to hardware lock a trivial feature to the new hardware, but bring higher profile features like hypertension notifications and live translation to existing hardware.

It is ridiculous to treat this as a gotcha.

I think the "gotcha" is the blurred lines last Tuesday of which features will be available only on the new hardware being presented, and which features will be available on recent-years hardware via software updates. No distinction made during the presentation.

I don’t get it. Is it 3 times more or 1.5 times more coverage?

Also, the footnote states iPhone 17 and Air. What about Pro (Max)? :) might be another catch whete it needs the Apple designed chip

Don’t see any reason for it to be available only with the latest iPhones. Would have been nice if the other models got it too. Hoping a future software update will allow this but seems unlikely.

Is that what people who feel they should trust whatever anyone tells them does? Aligns money making corporations and ad view seeking websites with their closest family? I can see why I think differently from those folks. I don’t care how much I like their products, I’m not buying anything they make without looking into it to see if it fits my needs for the price I want to pay!

If someone that wants money from another person shows them a slick presentation and the person buys from them based ONLY on that slick presentation, they are accepting it. If, after seeing a slick presentation, they then research further into their claims to verify if what they mean by, say, “all day use” aligns with their personal expectations for “all day use” then they are NOT accepting it.

I don’t think it’s acceptable, so I expect a for profit corporation to tell me what they think I want to hear to profit from me. These companies are counting on the fact that, while people say something is unacceptable, they’ll buy anyway, no research required.

To me that's a separate complaint, which I could understand more, that Apple implied that some features would only be available on new hardware.

Cancelled my iPhone 17 Pro preorder.

Im not moving to the other side of the world to unlock this feature neither!
LOL at both the original comment and this... I'd say it's clear as day that their statement refers to the fact that the feature works with the iPhone 17 range of phones... not just the non Pro 17. :D:rolleyes:

apparently it does now?
