Apple has to come out with something new at NY this summer. DDR memory is exciting but not enough, neither is 1.2 or 1.4 new G4. So what will it be? They have to surprise us with something new, they need the news and the money....

Do you really think so? Switching to DDR-266, with a 400MHz jump per processor, is a huge increase in power. Do you not think that would be enough to grab some headlines? I do.

Perhaps they will release jaguar. I'm not expecting that though.

thats right, apple will sell webcam and videoconferencing software with every mac
and that DDR thing..i mean..imacs and ibooks should have pc2100 and pmacs and pbook pc2700 ram but thats okay, motorola is responsible for that

I see a set top box that plays mp3s from itunes, does slideshows from iphoto, plays movies made from imovie, and does web browsing all on your tv using airport to connect to your mac. It'll be Apple's XBOX :).

I hope. ;)

like i always say,XMac ;)

If Apple ever does come out with a gaming system similar to craXbox I would like to see it be called the iPlay. BTW, I do not think such a product would come out.

Besides, I think you guys are too focused on the PowerMac being a huge upgrade. Apple does also have the iMac G4, which should still be selling very well. I would expect this to get maybe a 1GHz processor upgrade.

As for a 17 inch monitor attached to it, I have no idea. But the thought of possible new monitors using newer and cheaper technology makes me wonder if Apple plans to upgrade their current line of monitors with better and cheaper technology so that a cheap 17 inch monitor can be attached to the iMac. Again, I am speculating.

I think that the big announcement at MW will be an Apple PDA. That's the only thing that makes sense. Apple has updated most of their products already so they won't take attention away from the big surprise at MW.... the iWalk!!!!

You're cruisin' for a bruisin' there, sonny...

Wait 'til eye' sees this one!

Who really knows...

Apple will come out with a computer that will always have free hardware upgrades for as long as you own it. How much will it cost? Only $10,000. For free hardware as long as I own it, I'd buy it!:p

I don't think apple would come out with a gaming system either, that's why I said they would come out with a set-top box. It'll be like one of those TiVo/replayTV things, but it'll do all those other things I mentioned. I bet it'll be based on a G3 too, just to get rid of their excess stock :).
Maybe it'll have a wacom style tablet and you'll be able to use that new messenger program with natural handwriting?

Nah, I don't think so. OS 9 to OS X was one thing, but this is a little different. From what I've been loooking at, Jaguar is not as much as an overhall as the latter. It's probably going to be something big. Besides the iMac, Apple hasn't had anything huge since the G4, in my opinion. The time is right.

Actually, Rower, I think that sonofeye is not going to like what his big man has to say about another PDA rumor....

Mr. Eyelikeart must be having nightmares right now. Eye, just take two of these and call me in the morning :)

Just where does that pill go? It looks too big to swallow :) .

Those pills are too big?

Well, now that you know what is written on it, here is the real size... :D

Keep in mind that this is MacWorld. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but has Apple ever intro'd a non-Mac OS based product at a MacWorld? That might sound silly but I have my doubts about the pda unless it's some sort of Mac OS based portable device that Apple probably won't call a pda.

It wouldn't surprise me to see a cpu bump on the eMac or a price drop of the current config. I think it'll be all about new PowerMacs and Jaguar for the most part. I also don't see any rumored Apple branded pvr being announced. That's more of a consumer item that would likely get its own intro.

There will probably be many folks disappointed with this show. I'm hoping they pull something out of the hat with something like dual channel ddr but I have my doubts. That would be a pretty big jump.

Argh...

iTablet? Don´t think so. There are enough Tablets already out, so that wouldn´t cut it... it would need some really special features, but all in all...

...this speculation would lead to YET ANOTHER PDA THREAD :D

King Cobra: what's with your little pictures these days? I've seen a few of them now...keep up the heaps good work :D

Anyway, an iTablet may see the light of day one day but not yet, not yet...

Could be the annoucement of a new pro-level powerbook design. I know they just bumped the speed and screen resolution, but they only bumped to 800 (leaving room for a future bump) and there was a recent rumor about Apple changing to a new company to manufacture the powerbooks.

If I were Apple, I wouldn't want to force a new manufacturer to build something another designer made. They would have to recreate (or purchase from the other company) all the dyes and machinery etc..., and their quality would suffer for a while.

They would be much better off with a design made specifically in conjunction with the new manufacturer and their team of manufacture specialists.

That's my hope at least... a new powerbook with the 1gig chip along side the 1.4 powermac (also with a new box - beige? LOL)

By the way, the new Apple commercials rock. They aren't exciting, but about 10x more likely to get someone like me to buy an apple than the silly iMac sticking its tongue out at the guy.

this isn't really true of course. if, and when, apple switches manufacturing from whatever company their using now, to whatever company they're flirting with (both names have been mentioned, but i can't for the life of me remember either one)...they're not going to do it on a whim. they're not going to just fax over the powerbook recipe and see what happens. and there really should be no need to alter the design to go from one manufacturer to another, especially since the cases are likely outsourced from another company...correct me if i'm wrong - but their manufacturer doesn't make from scratch every part of a powerbook.

anyway, the point's almost moot. for a while there i was happy to believe that the powerbook might infact get a new enclosure around the same time as the Power Mac, but i just don't see that happening now. despite the brouhaha surrounding paint chipping, denting, scratching, and what else it does while you're sleeping - i don't think apple's going to release two hot new machines simultaneously...they'd only end up splitting their sales.

I don't think it would be a new design Ti. But there have been several rumors about updating lines that have just been updated. Could be the return of Special Edition macs? TiG4 SE 1GHz? iBook SE 933 MHz? iMac SE 933 MHz? This would set the stage for 1GHz all-round for MWSF...

EDIT>
Sorry, just noticed Falleron said the same thing in another thread.

What about an apple-branded digital camera that has the same hard drive as the ipod? I mean, this would only make sense since apple created a gadget to accompany itunes, why won't they create a gadget to accompany iphoto? Having a 3-5 megapixel camera with a 5-10gb hard drive would be killer! I'd imagine that it'd be firewire based, have a tv-out connector, and perhaps it'll also act as a hard drive like the ipod.
