Now, let me throw an idea into the mix 😕
Why not new 13" MBP? How would like to use and carry that everyday as your main computer instead. Same footprint as the MBA, a little thicker, heavier for sure ...
But, the trade off is more performance, not comparing pricing to the Air but a 13" MacBook Pro, 2.5ghz with a 256ssd would be a nice machine.
Why wouldn't or didn't the MBA fans here buy the 13" MBP ?
Would you rather have a fully spec'd 13" MBA with a 256ssd or would you stick with your MBA?
I've carried the 13" Aluminum MacBook around before, which is the same as the current new 13" MacBook Pro.
I don't deny the fact that its faster and best bang for my money. But for me, there's a few points that I personally look at heavily when I chose the air.
1) Its lighter. Believe it or not, 1.5 lbs does make a difference on my back. I ride a sport bike as my primary means of transportation now and the extra 1.5 lbs + books and/or other stuff makes my back pretty sore, especially when I lean forward on the freeway, so I have literally the entire weight of the backpack pushing on my back.
2) No glass on the screen. I've used the 13" and the 17" Unibody systems and to be honest, it was completely unusable for me outside. There was a lot of glare, and even inside the lighting is behind me so it doesn't help.
3) The button trackpad. Some might disagree with me but having a button is nice for me. I'm a bit old-fashioned here but when you're working in boot camp running xp/vista/7, the button helps with the awkward randomly clicks
Lastly, its not really a point at all, it's just fun honestly. It's a great system to go, especially since I tend to be at places like starbucks or the library or the kitchen or the backyard playing some tunes and playing with my dogs, more than my desk in my room. The MacBook Air just fits me. Sure it can be better, but for current technologies for something this thing, its pretty good.
