Sorry, probably killing you guys with all the comparison questions. Anyways, do quite a big of video editing (as well as photo editing), planning on diving deeper in 2020. Currently all my editing is in iMovie with 1080 stuff. With my 10 year old iMac with i7, 2T HHD, 4 gig of RAM it stutters and hangs up quite a bit. The GPU evidently is an ATI Radeon HD 5670 graphics processor with 512MB of GDDR3 memory The RAM could be a huge bottleneck of course but I'd like a speedy machine moving forward. Thanks to you guys I'm pretty well set on the i9 and 1TB SSD for my next 27" iMac. Watched a video and one guy said definitely go Vega 48 for video work, what do you guys say?

Thanks so much again!
Jason

Also will depend heavily on what software you'll be using, what formats you'll be exporting to. I guess previous question on how long do you plan to keep the machine, digs into that territory as well.

How long do you think you will keep this machine?
I've kept my present iMac for 9 years and it's served me well up until this past year so I'd like to keep the new one for maybe 8-9 years as well.

I use Lightroom for photos and iMovie for video editing. I have Premier Pro on a monthly subscription but have only used it sparingly. Sounds like quite a lot on here lean towards Final Cut Pro X so I'm contemplating going that route. I'd really like to delve into some multi cam stuff and get a little more professional with my editing. FWIW I'm only shooting in 1080, no 4K presently.
