Why Steve might retire at WWDC: -Loyal developer crowd -Currently on an indefinite medical leave. Third medical leave in last few years. -Pre-announced product announcements--- must be something bigger than all of them to have a surprise at the show. What could be bigger news than Steve's retirement? -First major event since 35th anniversary -Insistence upon press being in attendance -A way to go out on top! -it is going to be hard news to break one way or another to shareholders and other interested parties. May as well do it in conjunction with an event and presentation that shows Apple is healthy and has a great product lineup... -He may step down as CEO but retain some leadership or consulting role.
