Well I got a replacement Logitech G910 and needed the Logitech G Hub app installed (to stop the rainbow effect that the keyboard was doing on macOS - my old one didn't do this) and the program required Rosetta - so that didn't last long! Oh well.

Can't really blame the delays with COVID and supply chain issues affecting smaller companies at a massive scale.
This is not only supply chain, it’s conception problems. They are not even close to be “releasable” products.

Anyway, maybe these monitors will just never be available. I’d cancel my order if I was you 😂

It was just the 4K model being shown. Honestly Windows is absolutely horrible with 4K monitors with scaling enabled. And my eyes are not good enough to use a 4K monitor without scaling. Once scaling is enabled, EVERYTHING is SO BLURRY.

The two monitors I have now got pretty good reviews, and they are both driving me crazy with issues. I don't care about power delivery through the monitor, or even USB ports on the monitor. The colors still looked good on Linus' video, I am sure using the up key will be fixed for the on screen menu, since I won't be getting the 4K model I won't have to worry about that tearing down the middle he saw. I don't think it will be that big of a deal for me if I do get them.

I have the absolute worst luck with monitors. Dell, Samsung and LG monitors I have purchased have all eventually sucked and produced very bad problems. I would prefer an Apple monitor, I had luck with their old LCD display, but I am NOT paying $6,000 for a monitor!

As you wish. My recommendation is to stay away from unreleased, kickstarter products and go with mid-to-high end monitors like U2720Q or 27UN850. But it’s your money. Scaling works perfectly on my HP work laptop.

I always spend > $500 on my monitors. But my past experiences from Dell, LG and Samsung want to make me try this Eve monitor out.

I do too. If there is something where price usually equals quality, it's well in monitors, with some small exceptions. But giving >500$ to a kickstarter for a monitor, for me, it's a complete no-go.
I have been through 8 monitors in the past 5 years alone. That is quite a bit of money that I gave Dell, LG and Samsung to constantly keep getting burned. Do you recommend another company? The ONLY monitor that has been relatively decent for all of its life is the old Apple Cinema Display. But again, I don't want to spend $6,000 on the Pro Display XDR and I do prefer the higher refresh rates than higher resolution anyway.

Well... I just sold for 50$ an old U2311H which was almost 10 years old. Still working like a charm.

And I run a U2414H now, which was my second monitor. Still fine almost 6 years after opening the box.

So my next ones will likely be Dell too, probably U2720Q. Anyway, Dell is practically equals to LG because they use LG panels. So buying a Dell or LG is a matter of personal choice, design and side options. The 27UN850 shares (I think) the exact same panel (or very, very, very similar).

I don’t know what to tell you ... Dell for me and for a very big user proportion has always been one of the top performers, even better than LG if we read some user reviews here and there. Maybe you’ll be fine with those kickstarters, but something tells me that if you are not satisfied with either the top performers actually being sold (Dell, LG), there’s more chance you’ll be disappointed than flabbergasted by these never-seen-before products.

Maybe effectively the only thing that can satisfy you is a Pro XDR 🤷‍♂️

Have you had any experience with this?

I had the 2016 version of this Dell monitor and the colors were absolutely horrible.

No I haven’t. But this is predictable: the S line is the lowest end line at Dell. For real quality you need to go with Ultrasharp, you strictly don’t have choice. It’s Ultrasharp U series or nothing. And the model you cited is a gaming model, so color accuracy is never a priority for gaming models. This is written in the sky.

And except for gaming, I really don’t see why prioritize refresh rate over display quality. IPS panels are slow. It’s a fact, but it also gives the highest color accuracy and reproduction. You should really go with U2720Q. High DPI, 4k, 60Hz and practically the best colors for the money you can get.

I really need one with a higher refresh rate if possible. I game about 40% of the time and work 60% of the time so it is nice having both if at all possible. My Samsung had some pretty good colors since it was kind of HDR, but it is curved and it started to act up a few months ago.

There’s no free lunch. Either you have a fast panel but awful colors or a nice high end display but slower refresh rate. The high end IPS panel with perfect color and 144Hz or whatever refresh rate doesn’t exist at reasonable price. Even Pro XDR is 60Hz. Manufacturers can’t do miracles, even less kickstarters.

But I must admit I don’t play games. I have a lot more occupations than wasting my time at games 😂. So that eliminates a part of the display problem. Personal opinion here.

Which is why I wish Apple would have created a Pro Display XDR mini or something. The iPad Pro has 120hz.

I think Mini-LED is promising. Instead of wasting money in kickstarters, save it for a Mini-LED display when LG will launch them at a more reasonable price. 2021-2022 will likely see this new technology enters massively into the market, pretty sure about that. This is the next step since OLED never successfully made good displays. Meanwhile, U2720Q / 27UN850 are your best bet.

I have just about had it with my Samsung so I will need to get a monitor now unfortunately. I guess good news is I will need to cancel my Eve monitor pre-order as I really am just fed up with the issues. I think I found a good one to buy now.

Dell reliability is impressive for me. 9 years old monitor that worked every single day. It wasn’t even LED powered. It was using good old incandescent lamps that heat a lot. The U2414H doesn’t show a single sign of failure. Not sure if even LG can reach that level of reliability since it’s more “consumer grade” than Dell which is more business grade.

I actually think I found a good LG. While my LG monitor I have can be finicky sometimes, its not as bad as this Samsung I have. I decided on the 27GL850, supports "HDR" which my Samsung also supported and it was good enough for what I do for video editing and photoshop work.
