I mention it because this question comes up frequently and there's a lot of answers already posted; this gets you the info more quickly than waiting for people to answer the question again.

When I first got my iPad I found such a mind boggling array of apps, that I simply took my time and read about them. Once I found what would work for the way I used my device I then put a few on it. Out of the box there is so many good things you can do , your surely not going to be bored.
It all depends on why you bought it and what your intended purpose is.
For me, I find that goodreader, is one app that would be on my top ten list, but that doesn't mean it will be useful to you. Browse these forums, and see what others post and browse the app store to see what you tickles your fancy.
