Nowhere
is that iOS forces you to view every video (even embedded in websites) in full screen. It would be nice to allow videos on iPhones to function like the iPad. Just play the dam video on a website until we click full screen. It's 2015 already.

Agreed.

The FB app seems to have fixed this irritation. Hopefully IOS will implement it.

The CNN app has this too, but the video is fixated at the top.

For the iPhone to be a consumption device and to multi-task Apple needs to disable full screen by default.

Also the other annoying thing is when you pop from the bottom to disable screen rotation lock, video pauses. It should just play while you unlock rotation/and/or make locking rotation easier.

Does the 6s Plus have the same issue?

The problem is when you use Safari to view sites, iOS handles video. I feel like the video implementation is very archaic, it's still the same from iOS 1.0 and the original iPhone.

On the iPad its much better.

How much easier can locking/unlocking rotation be made? Swipe up hit lock rotation button swipe down......? So hit the video play to start again. I like that it stops when my attention strays while fiddling. Never considered it a feature or a detriment. What next? Whites not white enough, blacks too black?

I think this has been fixed in the latest 9.2 betas!

Fixed implies something was broken. I must be dense but choices of something working one way or another doesn't imply breakage to be fixed to me. Preferences at most. But then for every preference one way someone else will say it was working fine and now it's broken.

Hating something sure sounds like a preference issue to me. Glad to see it changed for you in 9.2. Just hope the other 200 million iPhone users don't wind up hating what you now like.

Since we are talking preferences and pet peeves. Here is one I have. Just when I get used to an interface, the look and feel of some web site or app, developers go and change it so I have to learn it all over again. They mix the menus around, move things on a page, or make what had become intuitive to me, now a new how to do it puzzle. Guess I'm from old school, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I get all my software working working to latest releases, learn the ins and outs, and WHAM, somebody updates something and it either doesn't work or have to figure it all out again. I must be getting old.

Maybe I've just gotten used to it but I like the full screen video. On my iPad I can understand not having it because it has the screen real estate. I could see myself fumbling around trying to maximize the video on an iPhone.

Option to disable would be nice I guess for those that don't like it.

It's kinda annoying having to press the 'done' icon a few times to quit the full screen video. Mine never seems to react to the first press with that 'done' button..:

what drives me nuts is that videos dont play in landscape most of the time automatically so i always have to disable my rotation lock first. so annoying. who wants to see a video in that tiny aspect radio

It seems, when there is a new upgrade, something changes and there is no instruction ahead of time. It drives me crazy This last time in order to see a full screen video I figured out I would have to move the phone to a horizontal position which I didn't used to have to do. Same with the Calander..I used to see the monthly calendar in an upright position and not I have turn it. It would be a lot easier to have these instructions because I for one get in a habit of viewing something and all of a sudden it's gone and some other way takes its place. Then I get all kinds of pop ups which make no sense to me. I think the developers assume we are all computer savvy and half the time I have no idea what the popup means. Why do I have to figure it out? I read all kinds of things into them. Then I ask my son and he thinks I'm just stupid. Maybe I am but don't forget, developers, not all of us are below 60 anymore.

You should be abele to see the monthly view in Calendar without changing the orientation. I think it was only the weekly view that would appear in horizontal orientation, but I don't believe that's something that changed as it has been like that before.

On my android phone i have orientation lock enabled at all times but video is always able to use the accelerometer no matter what. Apple should implement that for videos and pictures only

THIS SO MUCH! Hits play. Video plays in portrait. Turn off screen rotation to watch video in landscape.
Finish video. Website rotates to landscape because you need to turn rotation lock back on. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Side note. I always have a hard time pulling up the control center when in landscape or in an app.
