I had wondered this but checking the supported models on Apple's special photos/video page doesn't list the iPhone Air as a supported model, the reason being it had a single camera.

Now I know not many people have Vision Pros. But this may change in the future, or there may be alternative ways to view spacial imagery. And if you get a phone with a single camera you're shut out of that.

Just another feature missing from the iPhone Air

Exported to an Oculus the results were.... ok. They kind of looked like the spatial effect photos, only in motion. I don't think its much of a selling point though.

Sounds like the OP is an Air hater who doesn't have one to boot ?

I love my Air - but I rarely take pictures with my iPhone.

If I do it's a quick point and shoot like the old instamatic days (yes,a Boomer here)...

Special imagery ?
I use my Canon DSLR w/ Pro lenses that will put an iPhone camera to shame.

Air is also missing a feature that detects useless threads. It is such a bad phone.

Thank God you brought this up before the 2 week return period! Must return my air immediately!

Don't even get me started on the lack of ultrawide on the air. The other day I was trying to take a picture of my house and it wouldn't fit in the frame! I had to take 4 steps backwards!!! 4 STEPS!!!! I didn't pay $1000 to be walking around taking steps backwards. What a dumpster fire this air has turned out to be.

I have no interest in buying the current incarnation of the Apple Vision Pro (too big, heavy and expensive) but I did the demo at the Apple Store and I'm gonna throw this out there: spatial videos and photos are insane when viewed in that format. Like, crazily immersive. So, even though I have no way of viewing them now, I occasionally shoot them here and there to get pictures of my kid and other stuff I may well want to see in 3D later on down the road if/when there's a more accessible way to view them. It just takes a minute to bank these, and I think I'll be glad I did later.

I’ve seen it mentioned several times, I just don’t think it’s a feature that many people value to a significant degree, so it doesn’t spark much conversation.

Given that you can already automatically create spatial photos out of regular photos as of visionOS 2.0, and you can create spatial scenes as of visionOS 26.0, this seems to matter less and less with every version.
Spatial videos obviously still require a capable phone, but no one that has it seems to ever use it. It’s its own hidden little mode in the Camera app, it only records in 1080P, I assume even people with the several thousand dollar headset aren’t recording everything‘s spatially simply because it’s not even convenient.

I hadn't thought about it either, to be honest. I think it's actually a pretty good heads-up. You are aware you could just scroll past a thread without stopping to take a piss, yeah?
Normally I would scroll by, but I’ve seen the OP making other Air bashing posts previously and it’s beyond tiresome. He doesn’t like the Air, we get it.

FWIW, you can use a third-party app to make 4K ones. I get they're not top of mind for people right, but I'd encourage anyone who has a spare 30 mins at an Apple Store to do the Vision Pro demo, just to see what's on the table here with 3D videos. I bet in 10 years we'll have some much more convenient ways to look at them. (And again, very much agree AVP is not the right device for most people because of cost and bulk/weight but I'm sure better versions will come).

That's actually sort of telling on how poorly the Vision Pro must be selling. Apple is the master of vertical integration between products. To completely ignore their Vision Pro on their newest phone is telling.

The Air is an exercise in minimalism. Even if Vision Pro were best selling, I doubt Apple would put a second camera. After all, most people without Vision Pro already use the ultrawide lens knowingly or otherwise.

Adding a second lens wouldn’t even make the Air chassis thicker. It would just make the glass plateau bigger. But Apple opted not to add the camera.

This suggests Apple is pursuing the thinnest and lightest device possible with the Air.
