I have been participating in the one to one support subscription at my local Apple store. I have been there a few times over the last two months and have found the consultants by the most part useful. I was there today and saw something I was uncertain about what to think. After working one to one with a customer for the required hour...a customer at the opposite side of my table tipped his consultant $10 and he took it.....is this something customers should be doing with their one to one consultants in the store, is this optional or is it not allowed?......thanks,

Certainly optional. Possibly not allowed, but it probably doesn't happen enough for Apple to have made a policy. A testament to how much people who opt for one-to-one appreciate the personal attention. At the Apple store near me, the training sessions always overflow into all parts of the store. In fact, the store opens early just for one-to-one training.

You shouldn't feel obligated to tip (ever).
