Ladies and gents,

The OnePlus 3T has now been revealed (15 November 2016).. is anyone excited?

The new device will be powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.35GHz.

The phone will still feature the 5.5-inch Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) Optic AMOLED display and 6GB of RAM along with the same 16-megapixel rear camera but with an all new front facing camera for those selfie lovers!

There's also larger capacity battery in the mix at 3400mAh.

Unfortunately there has also been a price bump especially significant for us British folk at £399 up from £329 for the 64gb version!

Think I'll pass!

KKH

That should mean a price drop on the OP3 that may have me pull the trigger on that one. Of course I am eager to read reviews about the upcoming OnePlus, hope it is a winner.

Agreed. I'd imagine the new OP3T replace the OP3 at $399 USD and the OP3 drop in price somewhat. I just hope they don't make the OP3T more expensive just because it's running the 821.... unless they have new "features" that warrant a price increase.

Last I read is that the new OP3T is $80 more though so we'll see.

Price jumps $40 for

Now, what's new? Well there are two big spec changes: the phone now runs on the absolute latest Snapdragon 821 processor, and has bumped the battery capacity over 10% to 3400 mAh in total. Those two specs will propel the already-strong OnePlus 3 battery life even further. Then we come to the smaller things: the front camera is now 16MP, the rear camera is unchanged but has a new scratch-resistant sapphire covering, and you now have an option to buy the OnePlus 3T with 128GB of internal storage if you choose. The OnePlus 3T also introduces a new "gunmetal" color, and the previously released "soft gold" color is also available.

The weakest thing in the OP3 is definitely the camera, namely its low light performance. If they managed to improve that then it seems like a worthy choice for those who don't already own an OP3. Otherwise I don't see much need for it as the OP3 is fast and has a pretty good battery life and charges so fast it doesn't even matter much.

3,400mAh battery size is a GREAT improvement, and 6GB RAM standard, and the SD821 is good too, ( but not a big improvement over the SD820 ) And 64GB option is nice other than 32 or 128 only.

All of this for almost have the price of the Pixel XL. This is what a Nexus device should be like, and affordable phone, with near flagship specs. I'd take this $439 phone, over the $800 PIXEL XL any day, way more value for your buck, and the custom ROM scene is very good on the OnePlus phones.

No QHD screen. Bummer.
Biggest shortcut they've took to save costs this year. Unfortunately it's the most frequently used aspect as well and very obvious. Pentile AMOLED @ 5.5 inches is too much of a trade off.

I wonder if they've sorted the camera software out. When I had the OP3 it would blow highlights and get grainy far too easily. Be a shame upgrading the sensor and having iffy processing.

Honestly, if you're a OnePlus 3 owner, this isn't that big of a deal.

Also, it's unclear whether or not the 3 will be cheaper. OnePlus might leave it the same.

I think they have the right idea. For Android devices, it's all about early-year releases when Qualcomm releases their new SoC's.

Anything that comes out in the late year is too late since in a couple of months they would be a generation behind.

I just sold my OPO3. Might look at the OPO3t only if the camera is better. The battery is a lot better also and Nougat roms are already available for the OPO3.

If they leave the OP3 the same price, I rather get the new one. The price of the OP3 on the preowned market is what I would be monitoring more so though.

Minimal upgrade for a minimal price change > mediocre upgrade for a higher price change.
