my old iMessages somehow. Are they kept in my Mac even when I uncheck iMessages on my iPhone?

They were kept on my MacBook when I used the pixel 3a for a short period of time. Also I am exploring AirMessage as it’s quiet fascinating but the instructions and video seem way over my head on how to get it set up.
 
Finally able to get some free time last night and really set this up to my liking. Luckily I recently had the Pixel3A and I pulled a backup from there and it was super easy to get all my apps and such over.

Quick thoughts coming from an iOS user for the last 3 years and an XS Max recently:
  • This screen....WOW super vibrant, customizable on the saturation/colors, and it is stunning
  • 90hz is not a fad, gimmick, or overblown item by reviewers. It really is that amazing when seen in person
  • Size it is rather big but coming from an XS Max it doesnt feel as big and it is even lighter in my hand
  • Snappy, fast, supersonic...there isnt a word. everything is buttery smooth with that 90hz and OS speed
  • Camera is adequate is the word I would use. It isnt terrible, it doesnt make you say wow but it is fine
  • I went to the new gestures which are very iOS like and I LOVE them making the transition simpler
  • I am still poking around and trying to figure where things are. Android settings are DEEEEEEEP
  • Not enough time to report on battery life as this morning is my first full charge, going 90hz, max settings
  • Curved edges are not my favorite still but it isnt as bad as i remember. typing is a tad tough
  • Speaking of typing, I do not like the stock keyboard so will be exploring options to get similar iOS keyboard
  • Fingerprint sensor is SUPER fast. Like you dont even realize you are waiting at all. I love it
  • Love the notification slider, such a cool little addition
  • Oxygen OS is an excellent option over stock as its so clean but adds little items here and there, impressed

I am sure there is more but after 4 hour last night and all morning, I am not yearning for my iPhone yet and its officially boxed up and ready to be shipped to its buyer so I am all in!!

I do greatly miss my AW watch though.....

This screen is unbelievable. The vibrancy, the seamless display with no notches, cutouts, and the accuracy vaults it to one of the best out there right now if not the best.

The curved screen is very noticeable but it somehow makes it feel smaller? It feels excellent in the hand but will no doubt put a case on this one (I usually dont use cases on my phones unless outdoor activities, pool, etc).

That refresh rate is something the videos dont do it justice on. I have messed with the iPad Pros but on a smaller device it feels different. Like you are almost picking up the apps up and websites with your fingers it is so damn fluid. Plus everything is so snappy and fast! Like instantaneous. Shocking really coming from ios.

Beware, the Mirror Gray is not matte like the Nebula blue. I didn't want the blue anyways as I will put a case and the color doesnt matter but just a heads up to anyone.

JOD with TMobile makes this too easy. I will be officially putting my sim card in it within a few hours and go from there but after playing with it in the store for about 30-45 minutes I am beyond impressed.

I am a hardcore iOS guy through and through and this is my first Android flagship in over 3 or 4 years and I am shocked just how good it feels. Now we will see in day to day...

And dont forget...that price?!?!? Unreal for what you get.

Ok, done gushing for now. Just wanted to share with others who may be on the fence or waiting for theirs. 🙂

I'm doing JOD too, from my S10e. I love oxygen OS a lot! Mine arrives Monday! Pretty excited to try it out

I wondered about this. I am not a good android-er so unsure how this works. Do I simply install the GCam app and use that when I take pics? I can't set as default and lose all functionality I guess on quick camera opening and such huh?

Lots of questions forthcoming on this crossover adventure, bare with me 🙂

I am blown away by how good this device is for the price point. I feel like I've been duped by Apple for years. Don't get me a wrong I love me some iOS and will be back but man this device is incredible!

You have to download it from a source outside of the Google Play store and install it manually. Not difficult, have to enable developer options first (repeatedly tap the Build Number in Settings 10 times (I think), found under About Phone section I believe), then turn on a setting that allows it to be done.

What I don’t understand is why would anybody with a X or newer want a OP device?

In the case of X/XS the only viable reason might be battery life. But why would XR and Max owners even think about it?

Much less sell their existing iPhone to downgrade.
 
Seriously? Obviously you have not seen the new OP7 Pro.
The screen is so much better, not only the resolution is higher, it is better (the newest Samsung screen)
and the refresh rate is 50% higher, so everything scrolling, moving etc is much, much smoother,
an experience impossible to describe, need to see it. BTW there is no notch LOL
It is overall incredibly fast and the finger reader is instant.
Storage and RAM is the newest and all the specs are the highest available today.
The camera is better and can be improved by using gcam app.
Android is clearly so much better than what people here think about it, as they have no recent experience.
Can you imagine you can save your files (and see the file structure) anywhere you want? Incredible, right?

iPhone XS Max is so dated next to it, it's not even funny. Sad thing, as all the leaks are showing,
it's not gonna change at all in 2019. Even using the same horrible Intel modem. And the horrible notch.

I think the screen on this latest model is great but apparently GPS reception and cell reception are a bit weak along with battery but everything else is great. The UFS 3.0 should be nice for quick data transfer and syncing. iPhone sync speeds are still at snail speeds here in 2019😵

Apart from the 90Hz display, Android flagships always have had those advantages over Apple flagships. All these things aren’t new.

Why would somebody buy a XS Max if they wanted any of that? Much less sell a XS Max for 700 bucks to buy a OP7 Pro instead.

Speaking from experience... Some people just get bored / tired of iOS. Being locked into using their phone the way Apple wants them to.

Sometimes it's more about the OS and what that allows you to do than the specs of the device.

However, a lot of people enjoy the value. The same question you asked can be reversed - why would someone buy an XS Max for that obscene amount of money, when OnePlus are offering their device (with those specs) for almost half the price.

Because to many specs on paper don’t matter, but the OS does.

Had OP7 cost the same as XS Max, do you think people would still want to buy it instead of the XS Max?

You've just answered your own question then. Some people buy a OnePlus over the XS Max because they prefer Android and they just so happen to be getting a phone with better specs, and for less of a price.

If it was the same price? I don't know, you'd need to ask those people buying them that. What I want to know is though, why do you care?

Can you understand that some people just prefer Android? I imagine there's lots of people who think it's absolutely ridiculous that you've spent the money you have on an XS Max when they can get a (subjectively) better phone for much less.

You've just contradicted yourself there. The OS matters but you don't know why someone would buy a OP7 over an iPhone? A bit irrelevant to talking about a OnePlus costing the same as an XS Max when the price difference is ridiculous.

Yes. Because not many people move to Android because of the OS. It’s usually for the price and sometimes for the hardware, or both. But rarely because Android is a better OS provided you always stay on flagship devices and upgrade yearly.

Tons of people prefer Android to iOS and have moved from one to the other. Not sure what point you're actually trying to make but you're not making much sense.

Android is the better OS to me and many others and that's not even taking into account the better hardware and better value for money. Not everyone likes iOS due to its locked down nature.
