I’ve got the 12. The 12R is the lower cost version but looks decent. The 12 has been great so far!
On my current finances I’m more looking towards the 12R. Bit annoying that the only way to get the higher capacity model is if you get some limited edition version, and that only 128GB is the standard model in the UK.
I found a review at last for the OP12 on Amazon UK. It was from someone coming from an OP8. They said they didn’t like the screen as much as they found the colours messy, also that it was very reflective especially on the rounded corners.
Also you can have the standard 12R in any colour as long as it’s black!!!
Never owned an 8 (just 9, 10, 12) but there are a lot of color variations you set the display to. Not sure about the 8 but the 12 is better than my wife’s 10 Pro. I left the factory screen protector on my 12. Wonder if that person removed theirs …. I find the 12 to be as reflective as the 15 ProMax.
I’ve still got the screen protector on my 6, though it’s now starting to come up in places around the sides.
Haven’t tried the direct sunlight battery life thingy yet but will say I am impressed with the SOT.
Used both. The SPen and Dex made the choice for me. Have a S24U at the moment.
The 1+12 is a smooth fast device. If you don’t use the SPen or Dex, it is a better choice IMO.
S23U went to my son.
1+12 went to the wife.
From what I've read too the 1+12 seems more responsive. What were the pro's of one device over the other if you don't mind?
The 12 was faster and had better battery life. It felt more responsive. Even more so with Dev options active for animation.

I am turning the 12 over to the wife to replace her current 9 Pro.
The 12 has been fast, consistent, great battery, and all round a solid flagship level device. If anyone is looking for a sub $1k device that can go toe to toe with the best out there, give this device a solid look.

OnePlus have just unveiled another midrange device the Nord 4. Actually quite a nice design and not bad specs for the price.

Hopefully this nice flat screen will make it to the OP 13. The curved screen is the only reason I haven't bought OP in quite awhile. Apple has NEVER on record EVER stated 7 years of support for any iPhone!
Laptops via OS have gotten 7yrs ONLY if purchased in Cupertino at an official Apple store! Research thsi to find the truth of my statement!
Iphone 11 no 7yrs
Iphone 12 barely getting OS updates and every year there are features in iOS that technically SHOULD work on a later model yet is PURPOSELY withheld to help boost sales if the latest model! It's sad cause iPhone faithful never r really complain in mass about it!
The term "Vintage" proves fact of my statement as it has only EVER applied to their laptops. Search for this on their site.
I've personally experienced thsi myself after 13yrs using and championing iPhone and iOS and started to see the lack of ios software features drop year after year since iPhone 7. (Iphone 8 for 2yrs was a strange yet happy exception along with iPhone SE OG getting close to 12yrs with a surprise security update)
Samsung it's the complete opposite. Less than 3 months after the Galaxy S24 debut with AI features I got everything the same on my S23! Many of those features have spread across almost completely internationally and will by this time on lower end Galaxy M or A devices 1-2yrs old.
For the 1st time in almost 2 decades I've never felt compelled to purchase an extended warranty for my phone and I'm no longer with Apple. Yet even in beta ios users have to wait for "Apple Intelligence" which doesn't seem like an intelligent move at all by Apple. And if any user believes Apple saying only the latest processors will get it baffles me because in the same keynote Cook specifically mentioned for years Apple introduced the neural engine across all their devices so what gives here?!
Why was their former Google hire even paid and bumped in less than 2yrs to executive level if HE didn't bring AI realization to the coding staff, and it was through basic ignorance that Craig experienced it and got the software team involved. Why dint ANY internal software team ember bring this to light to any executive decision maker years before?! Why aren't end users demanding more from Apple?!
