I might give the portrait mode a try myself as sometimes I get that switch by accident while moving phone
I never use the Galaxy Fold in landscape mode when folded... so it makes for me to just lock it to portrait and I forgot about the other routine I have which is AOD set to 'Always Show' when charging (set to 'Tap to Show' when not charging).

And I do have keep screen awake (when charging) via Developer Settings, not necessarily part of routines. But something I wanted to share.

Awesome thank you for sharing. Keep it coming.

I have a Routine when I double press the volume up to take a screenshot
That's a good one! You know you can use One Hand Operation to do this as well?

I probably should have used routines more in the last year since I've switched to Samsung. I just set one so if my Galaxy Watch Ultra disconnects from my phone, my sound mode changes to vibrate.

Wait a min.. that's a good conversation to be had! Why you don't use One Hand Operations?
I also don't use it. I guess I just don't really understand this module. It seems to duplicate what I can already do with navigation gestures. Again, it's probably me not getting it. Lol

I agree that it seem to duplicate other navigational gestures.. so it can come off as being redundant. But one thing I use often is the Task Switcher via One Hand Operations, because sometimes when using my stand.. swiping from the bottom is not easy to pull off.

If you're using Samsung's keyboard, then you need to be using the Keys Café module. I normally theme my keyboard using Samsung's Theme Park. I've just recently noticed Keys Cafe now has preset themed keyboards. I've just themed two keyboards using one of the preset keyboards as a starting point. Makes total sense to put it all under the Keys Café module. You can also do way more customizing of the keyboard than with Theme Park. You can change the key color, character color, and border color of the normal Keys, function Keys, and number Keys independently. You can also change the style and color of the swipe when using swipe. I absolutely love this. Will be creating a lot more themes.

I don’t recall being able to change keys independently on Keys Cafe and when I looked at your screenshot near the bottom… noticed it’s different from mine. Checked my version number 1.7.00.12 and compared it to the newest version on the Galaxy Play Store, which is the One UI 8 updated version.

I have not given the Samsung keyboard a chance for a long time since I just never really liked prediction on it as compared to my Gboard but maybe I will check it out.

I tried Samsung keyboard for a day recently and switched back. Gboard is just too good.

I figured that would be the results. At the end of the day I just rather have the reliability and speed while typing over customization

I am really displeased with Samsung. I updated my Galaxy Tab S10 Plus to One UI 8 and Dex mode was working fine. That is until I shut it down and later powered it back up. I noticed that the tablet wasn't in Dex mode so I enabled it only to be greeted with a message that you can only use Dex mode if you are casting it to an external display. WTF!!!

Dex mode is the reason I upgraded and bought the S10+ so I can use the tablet in Dex mode and now Dex mode is no longer on the tablet but only if you are using an external display. Why oh why can't companies just leave well enough alone? I have no problems with change, I really don't but they just eliminated a complete feature of the tablet where Dex mode no longer uses the tablet display. Why not give us a toggle to either use the tablet or external display?

Nice going Samsung!

Yeah Tech with Benefits has just put out a video about this:

Kind of funny, Apple has suddenly decided to make iPadOS have laptop-like behaviours and Samsung has gone off in a different direction.

Thanks for posting that video. So it is possible to have Dex desktop mode on the tablet? I have a 3rd party keyboard trackpad combo, so I will need to try that. Funny how every video I have seen shows that it requires a wireless connection to cast it to another monitor, just like the message that pops up on the screen when enabling Dex mode.

Edit: There's no keyboard shortcut on my 3rd party keyboard case. If I click on the left navigation button, then it brings up the ability to select a desktop. That gets the Galaxy Tablet into what used to be Dex mode.

To answer the original question as to why Samsung went in this direction? It had more to do with Google. They want their Android partners to use Google's Desktop mode feature. Google has decided to merge Android and Chrome OS much like Apple has with all of their operating systems where they look and function somewhat similar.

Same. Actually, when people discuss iOS vs Android, I'm always surprised by the fact that keyboard isn't required about more. Gboard is just so ahead of everything else and you think how many times you use the keyboard every day. Probably one of the top features but it's boring for the YouTube folls to talk about.

I've used SwiftKey and Gboard before. To me, all keyboards performed similarly, so it's the customization of Keys Café that was the defining reason to stick to the Samsung Keyboard. Unless something has much better performance to make a difference, I'll always lean on whatever app that gives me more customization.
