Looking good, I wonder if they will complete the circle by end of the year? I wonder also if they will move SJ old office into the new campus.

After seeing the video, I'm not sure how employees are expected to go from a meeting on floor 4 on one side of the building to floor 2 on the opposite side. It looks like it would take 20 minutes just to make the walk.
Imagine one unintentional side affect of this building design is if you have to go around the whole thing for a meeting, you have a clearer idea of what to say. Having more time to walk and think within the walls of the building may not be a bad idea. Could increase creative.

There is a tram service planned and, considering logistics, a walking sidewalk as done in airports.

It is intentional. They are following the Xanadu architecture model that goes back to Ancient Greece. This circular type of building design has been known to encourage creativity at different levels.

That is the more privileged and more secret information is kept on the inside rings away from public view. This coined the term "inner circle" meaning close friends or inside information.

Wait, I thought it was Captain Crunch?
Mentioning Crunch, I'm sure somehow, someway, John Draper will find his way into this place when the original Apple employee generation shows up for get togethers as they do late at night in the middle of the Inifnite Loop courtyard every few months.

*1/Pi not 2/Pi
I'll do the math on here, so I hope I didn't make a mistake on the first time through...

C=pi*D
Since we're only going half way around, the ratio is 1/2C=pi/2*D

So, I guess it should be the distance is pi/2, but that's the distance of the half circumference, but I wanted to get the distance ratio of the straight across, so I have to invert them, and that's how I got 2/pi, so it's about 2/3 the distance to go straight across vs. going around the building (and losing weight).

So, say the building is 1km in diameter... The distance from edge to edge is 1km. The distance of the circumference (on the outer edge) is 3.14km. Since we're only going half way around, the distance would be 1.57 km, or the ratio would be approx. 1.57/1. That's the ratio of C/D (walking the circumference to walking the diameter). The ratio of D/C (again, C is the distance walked along the circumference) is 1/1.57 (or 0.637), which equates to 2/pi.

Thank you for making me prove it out. I enjoy the exercise, as I was just doing a quick post on the first one, and I did have it wrong before I edited it, right after I posted it.

Unless you want to lose weight.
Fat people don't work at Apple, remember Apple is trying to build diversity away from just skinny white people?.....wait a sec, is that what they meant by diversity? Hire more overweight white guys? I'm confused, Jake Busey is supposed to blow up the space ring in Cupertino?

I was really amazed after seeing the video. What a huge pile of work but is really to be expected. That would be a very wonderful infrastructure, and its Apple so why question about it?

The Chinese have solved this problem a long time ago. They put 100 employees in an office the size of an average American car. And, not to get distracted by a nice bird, they've replaced trees with concrete and added pollution to the air so you can't view more then 10 meters in front of your feet. Instant efficiency win!

Except that the people die...

I know, I know, easily replaceable, but it's the training...

Actually, I think I just explained a lot of the quality issues with Made In China...

You get the same feeling looking at the Pentagon. But it takes no more than 7 minutes to walk from any one point in that building to another. (supposedly)

Edit: I see that Unquibbed beat me to it...

Sure. I just read "perimeter" in your original post.

The motivation for the Apple self driving car.

I'm actually questioning if the amphitheater has legit fire escape routes or if there really is only one entrance.

Unbelievably awesome structure! Really puts the projects I've been involved with over the years in prospective! Heading to Cupertino in a few weeks, what are chances of a site visit during construction? Do they have an observation deck?
