Mine too. Is there any chance, that the shipping will happen BEFORE this date? I really need it to arrive the latest at 23rd...

Would it be helpful to upgrade to Express Shipping?

Yeah if you need it by the 23rd, upgrading to express would probably be a good idea, although the 23rd is a Saturday, so it would have to be delivered by Friday the 22nd. You might want to consider, once they replenish the supply of iphones in the physical apple stores, buying one there and canceling your online order, as that would ensure you would have an iphone by the 23rd.

On my calendar, the 23rd is a Monday :)

My friend is currently an au pair in the US and will come home on 24th, that's why I need it by then to arrive. There are some finance-transfer problems, so me paying with my credit card was the best solution, as she is very busy at the moment.

Anyway, I will give the hotline a call now and see what they can do, maybe the 20th is just a very cautious date, as it were with all my other orders at Apple (which in contrast to the iPhone were stated as "available in 24hrs" though)...

In the US...

Status this morning shows my iPhone departed Indianapolis, IN at 4:50AM. Should make it to LV by Friday morning and hoping for delivery that day.:)

I just spoke with the hotline and the guy told me, that express shipping wouldn't really help, but he was very confident, that the shipping date (20th) will change positively. Due to the holiday yesterday and all the online orders at once, they are kinda busy down there in China, but they are trying to get them out now as soon as possible, so here's to hoping that it WILL arrive earlier.

I ordered my phone from AT&T on the 30th. I went to the store (of course they were sold out) so I had them direct ship it to me. Got an email this morning that it has shipped (from Ft. Worth) and I'll have it tomorrow (I opted to pay an extra $6 or so and had them ship it overnight). Has anyone else tried to order from AT&T directly?

Indeed, as I said above if they're shipping direct from China they already use the fastest shipping available. Paying extra for 2 day shipping is just giving Apple extra profits!

In MY case paying for the extra shipping will be well worth it. Our local Fed Ex on Kauai will let packages sit on the truck for days until the 'estimated delivery date' hits.

Once in a while I get lucky but most of the time my packages from them are in the state of "On truck for delivery" until that date hits. The last time was getting me pretty mad because it was there for 5 days. The box was even a little damp from our local humidity but thankfully the contents were fine.

BTW: I ordered on the 30th 11am HI Time. Mine is marked for shipping July 13 with delivery on the 17th.

on the truck for delivery

I live in San Diego and ordered June 29th a few minutes after 6pm - stated 2-4 weeks for delivery at that time, then would ship by July 6th. Should have it by 1030am this morning as it is "On the Truck for Delivery" - (FedEx).

Cheers!:)

I'm only slightly concerned right now. I placed my order 7 minutes after 6 on the 29th and up till now my tracking stuff was looking good, but now I have an additional in transit line from China after previous info was from Indiana

shippingtransit.jpg

My expected delivery time isn't untill the 9th so I'm hoping I don't have to get angry with fedex/apple for any reason :D

Shipping?

What do you make of this FedEx tracking info?

Jul 6, 2007
7:38 PM In transit SHENZHEN CN
12:59 AM Arrived at FedEx location INDIANAPOLIS, IN
12:24 AM Int'l shipment release INDIANAPOLIS, IN

Jul 5, 2007
3:05 PM Departed FedEx location ANCHORAGE, AK
12:52 PM Arrived at FedEx location ANCHORAGE, AK
7:36 PM In transit SHENZHEN CN

Jul 4, 2007 5:51 PM Left origin SHENZHEN CN

I HAVE seen this in the past when getting stuff from the other side of the international date line. Sometimes the date sorting on the Fed Ex site does not match up.

Either that or a lot of people who work in customs now own some iPhones.:D
(probably just a computer glitch. It just says In Transit, not that they HAVE it there)

I understand the fact that it shows times (arrival/departure ect) in the time zone of that area, rather than formatting them to my speciffic time zone, it's kind of cool really to see somthing shipped at 7pm and arrive at another location at 12pm the same day (ahhh time warp :p )

What I would like to know is why there is departure info from China on the 5th, tracking info continues on to Alaska and Indiana, then tracking info shows in transit from China again and as of 1:44pm July 6th is in Alaska again.

Looking at etaylor's post just above his was already "on truck for delivery" so why the double shipping in this case?

Whatever the reason for the odd tracking info, as long as it's here by Monday I wont be complaining. I paid the extra money for the faster shipping (although I doubt if that was needed), if it goes beyond Monday I will certainly be calling apple for a refund on that $10.00 ;)

*EDIT*
On second thought I paid 10 bucks for 2 day shipping (business days of course). The 4th was a holiday of course, but then 5th and 6th would be 2 days... hmm...

Could Apple be closing in on 2 million iPhones sold?

The rumor is that 1 million iPhones have been activated in the first week. However a recent poll on another site (not that I read anything but MacRumors) listed 28% of buyers of the iPhone as having placed their orders thru the Online Apple store. Which means that there could be another wave of 280,000 activations this weekend when those initial iPhone online orders get delivered.

1.25 million in just over a week?!@ Now that's nothing to sneeze at.

However it's just the beginning. I know I have personally talked three people into purchasing an iPhone. What with all the demos I have had to conduct this past week. Not to mention the those people who are not necessarily Apple Early Adopters, but just tech early adopters in general. When they see this phone in all it's glory, they are going to want one.

I'm really interested in just 2 numbers. 1. How many iPhones have been sold?, and 2. How much of my montly bill does Apple get?

With just 2 days of iPhone sales falling into the last quarter that Apple is about to report lets hope they see fit to give us those numbers.

How big of a chunk of the monthly bill was TOO BIG for Verizon? and yet not too big for ATT?

One never knows...

Oh, and don't forget AppleTV. They have big plans for that. Apple has the video rental business in their sights next. You really didn't believe Steve Jobs when he said that AppleTV was just a hobby, did ya? Hobby, my eye. As long as your hobbies include hostile take over attempts of traditional marketplaces.

Boy am I glad Steve Jobs is on our side!!!

Redirect?

A lot of iphones showed up at Apple stores in the midwest overnight. CNN is speculating that a plane load arrived from China. I wonder if the first shipment of online orders was re-directed from Indiana FedEx location to Apple stores. A second shipment left China in time for a Monday delivery to online buyers so really it doesn't affect those deliveries. Could be that Apple decided to take advantage of the first shipment instead of letting it sit at FedEx over the weekend waiting for Monday morning deliveries. Just a thought...

Unlikely. Mine was shipped the 4th from China and arrived at my front door at 9:43AM on Friday (yesterday.) It was scheduled for delivery on the 9th. I also paid the extra $10 for shipping but noted my AX was not charged for the extra $10.

I think what Apple states on your order for shipping and delivery will be pretty accurate and no games. I don't think the store inventories are related to the online inventories.

Are you saying that my iPhone will really not ship until the stated ship date (jul 20)? :O

Unless all of a sudden they can speed up the fulfillment chain I think the date is pretty firm.

It looks like they are "rationing" the production runs to meet online and Apple and AT&T store demands. All online orders are based on when received.

Mine is still slated to ship on the 13th. I will post if it ships before that. I will also be checking my AT&T store to see if they ever got more. :p

I wish we had an Apple store since those seem to be getting direct shipments.

I think it's likely you are correct, as you can see beow my order has come from China twice now.

The leaving China twice thing is really wierd. I can think of three reasons.

1. Apple determined a problem with a batch of phones and headed them off. (I DO NOT think they would have grabbed them to sell).
2. Fed Ex was robbed and they are keeping it quiet. (Or a truck wrecked. etc.)
3. Someone screwed up with a batch of prescanned paperwork and the actual Iphones were not actually in the crates on those planes.

Check your tracking number with the ones that are actually delivered. If they are different then it is #1 or #2.

I upgraded to 2day shipping now, so the 24-26th was replaced by 24th
Never mind, here's to hoping that it will ship earlier as in r3dcloud's example :)
