you know for sure? cause my feeling agrees with you, but I hope not....
I hope updated products.....

No not for sure, but I have seen the store for the same reason at the same time many times in the past. For some reason I can't seem to buy anything from the music store in the UK either - I just get an error message - Is anyone getting the same error message ?

Ok Happily cause then there still is a chance it is a product update! ;)
But still hate to agree with you..... I am affraid is is just server update or something.

On the other hand: Different time for pruducten update is not bad... Apple will be big news on monday, cause all journalists had time enough to write something!

Didn't need it, but just for you I decided to buy "Riders on the Storm"... didn't work! (UK Store) Recon they're upgrading their iTunes backend stuff?

Sleep is for the weak and caffeine deprived. :D

3:25AM CST still down.
4:30 EST. I have no idea why I am still awake. I need another Jack and Coke. ;)

I'm tired, but I can't go to bed now. What if there are updates? I'm skeptical, but I have to stay up to be certain.

They don't actually have to close down the site while their doing it. All of the new pages just replace the old ones.

Umm no. There hasn't been a single time at a keynote when a new product was release for sale that day where you didn't get this:

welcome.gif

right in the middle of the keynote.

My bet is 512MB across the board. It's been down for a while which might suggest they are updating A LOT of pages. PowerMac, PowerBooks, iMac, iBooks, Mac Mini. Either that or something broke and they are having issues getting it back up but I doubt that.

[Edit: Guess not. The minis are still at 256MB as are the baseline iBooks and PowerMacs. Too bad.]

Thanks for trying - at least I know it is not just me - maybe they are updating the payment system - both store and iTunes

Apparently i received a mail from apple at 4:52 am (CET).
dutch web version here.

The icons on the right point to a site makeover?
In the mail they state there would be a new iPod and iPod accessory site.

They also market iSight and some lower prices.
So indeed, maybe there will be no product updates

EDIT: ha, went up while typing, iPod shop does look different, more accessories as well i think (like different style headphones)

512 MB!

All powerbooks have now 512 mb RAM included... That is where this update was all about!

Think is it's a good thing... well done!

No, only 2.5 and 2, which I thought already got 512.

So far just some new iPod stuff. And yes the Welcome screen has always been there.

On the U.S. store the bottom two PowerMacs still have 256mb RAM as standard.

I can't remember seeing that Welcome, {firstname} panel at the top of the right sidebar before...
It's always been that way... If you have logged in once and not deleted your cookies (or logged out again under the Support tab) Apple Store will remember you... ;)
