Hi everyone. I want to startup an online forum for a university sport club that I run. I dont want anything nearly as big as the Mac Rumors site but something just like this but smaller would be very cool. if anyone knows how I can do something like this please let me know.

Thanks

What does is seize you for then? :p

Do a google search, there are a number of free software forum packages, but you'll need a hosted website that probably has a MySQL database on it if you want to do your own. There are also a few places you can set one up that are run for you and you don't need your own website - its all a matter of what you're looking for.

Good luck,

D

Must be a translation error, the word i was looking for does sound like this one though. I think. Any suggestions?

Hey, at least i try ;)

personally i would go with vbulletin for a forum (wait i already do)

the people that run IPB are to put it bluntly friggen *******s for their service. they banned someone from getting support on their forums for saying one of their products was not that good.

and phpbb........well i just leave it at that

for a small bulletin board that you don't expect to grow huge, any of the above solutions is probably fine.

in fact, phpbb or a free IPB would make more sense.

I looked at phpBB during early MacRumors but wanted to buy a product which offered support and I wanted reliable updates etc... With phpBB I ran into an installation problem and the bulk of answers involved something like "well, it's free, so don't complain" or "we can't test every config".

And you try very well...at least much better than most of us would if we were writing in our non-native tongues. I think you were looking for 'never ceases to amaze me'. Cease and Seize do sound very similar
