I'm an experienced programmer in other languages (Java, Ruby, Perl, Shell, etc.), but want to learn iOS and Cocoa Development. I'm looking into a couple online video based courses, and wated to get people's opinions and experiences. The two courses I'm looking at mainly are the Stanford CS193 online courses with Paul Hagerty http://www.stanford.edu/class/cs193p/cgi-bin/drupal/, available for free in iTunes U, and the xcelME online courses http://www.xcelme.com/courses.php. The reason I'm interested mainly in these courses is the other online video based courses or in person seminars I've found cost thousands of dollars, which seems too much considering I've learned other languages on my own for much less.

Obviously Stanford has a much better reputation, but the reason I'm interested in xcelME is that you are actually taking the class vs. auditing the class - and thus are entitled to instructor support and interaction with classmates.

Anyways, I'm interested in any opinions or experiences regarding these two learning options - as well as any other suggestions for online video based iOS programming courses. Thanks.

Many of the people who frequent this forum are familiar with the Stanford lectures and so could help you if you get stuck.

(I watched them two or three years ago... watched a few on newer topics since then.)
