Research shows that leaving it plugged in continuously will put strain on the battery.

Use it at your convenience and don't worry about the battery.

My battery went belly up after 2years and only 100 cycles.

I'm going to purchase a used MBA. For a 2013 what should the health and cycles be?
Obviously, the higher the health the better, but beyond that there is no way to put an expected number to this. It would really depend on how it was used. For example, I have a two year old rMBP that is almost always on the charger and only used as a portable on battery once a month or so.... so the health is high and the cycles is only eight. So there just is no good way to define what is normal or average.

This is good to know as I want to be educated before I make the purchase.

*only* 1000 cycles? My old Sony would die soon after 500 cycles.

Currently my 2011 is at 680 cycles, 89% health.

My 2012 Air has 970 cycles and 83% health remaining. But if I recall correctly, 2012 model was rated for 500. So I am almost doubled. It wasn't until 2013 Air that was rated for 1000.
