My grandson was playing around on my mac. Somehow, he got it to where only 256 colors will properly display. I can get the full set of colors back by deleting the Library/Profile directory, but that's kind of drastic. What file or group of files can I change or delete to get back to normal? By the way, only 1 account is affected, and I have tried all of the display setting listed to no avail.

Yea, as I said above, I already tried that. The screen does not properly display at any colors greater that 256 at any resolution. All other color settings get a hard to see image, a bit like a very low quality negative.

Sounds like he's messed around with the contrast.

Go to System Preferences -> Universal Access and check the contrast is on 'normal'.
