Only loud speaker works...

Hey all. I'm having an issue with my iPhone 5 (latest iOS) where I can't hear anything from the other end of a conversation unless the loud speaker is selected. During calls, I think I can bearly hear somebody on the other end - unless that's just some kind of interference...

Is this a common problem?

Its not a common problem and need to bring the phone in to apple to repair/replace.
