I think that most people will say that the main difference is firewire rather than the backlit keyboard. However I think that they are going to sell a load of the new macbooks anyway. For me they have no significant disadvantages any more and they are still considerably cheaper. I'm having to buy a laptop pretty soon and before today I wasn't really considering the macbook. But now there are very few reasons that I can think of not to.

I disagree...they set the models perfectly different, in my opinion.

The 'Pro' option has firewire, aluminum enclosure, glass screen, and the backlit keyboard.

But the Macbook will probably sell like crazy now. Q4 = profitable.
