They'll only void the warranty if it's damaged the drive and it needs to be repaired....in which case it's void anyway.

Don't tell him something that isn't true, when it may very well be the fix to his problem if he can't get it out at home.

...except I AM telling him the truth. I was at my local genius bar for my MBA and some guy came in with his blackbook and he had a similar story, drive still working but mini disc stuck inside and a cracked case and faulty display inverter.

Right before my eyes genius said drive won't be touched because he's voided his warranty by inserting a mini disc into it but they'll fix everything else

Just insert the credit card in the DVD drive = solved.
