I'm trying to decide between the two........

ooTunes is $4.99 and TuneIn Radio is $1.99. Is ooTunes really worth the extra $3? Why or why not?

My needs: Really, only for one particular radio station (The FAN 590 CJCL, a Toronto-based sports radio station). Both apps do include that stream.

I'm sure that once I start using it, I'll take advantage of other features.

TuneIn Radio doesn't specifically state that it works over 3G. Can anyone confirm if it does/doesn't?

Any opinions are welcome..... or if you want to suggest an alternative App, go ahead.

I use TuneIn radio over 3g to list to WFAN sports radio. It should work fine for your purposes as well.

I use ooTunes and have for almost 2 years without one problem. The support is almost instantaneous and the other features such as record your songs to play later, Radio Roulette and the fact that if your radio station is not available and it streams, then Steve will add it. I have permanently deleted all radio apps from iTunes and iPhone and use only ooTunes.

I decided to give TuneIn Radio a try first. My reasons:

    • it's cheaper
    • it's a universal app, so I can use it on my iPad as well (ooTunes is not)
    • it's description was clearer about background use

    So far, it seems great.

That "roolette" (as ooTunes spells it), seems like a cool feature, but I doubt I'd use it much.

    Hi,

I was also wondering the same thing. I'm torn between these two apps.

Even though I want one right now to stream only two stations (available in both) I'm willing to pay the extra $3 if ootunes has more features or is clearly better overall. But from the reviews in iTunes, both seem to be equally good.

In the weeks that you have had it, have you encountered any problems?

No major problems. A few times out of the dozens that I've used it, the station I was listening to had to buffer here and there, but I don't think that is the fault of the app.

I highly recommend it, especially if you have an iPhone and an iPad. The iPad version is really nice (it's not just a blown up version of the iPhone app).

    Great, thank you very much.

I will be getting TuneIn Radio.
