I don't have Office for Mac, just what came with the iMac. I was told I can open a MS Excel spreadsheet with iWork, but that's not in my list of Apps. Can I use TextEdit, and if so how (I did try unsuccessfully). Thanks in advance

Thanks everyone, I dl the iWorks trial and it opens the .xls files. It didn't tell me how much the software is though. I think I can get MS Office for like $10 as a fed employee so that's probably my ticket. I got it for my PC last year and that even included Outlook (which isn't included in Office that you buy at stores anymore, the freaking crooks). My love for MS products is waning.
