Well I was on google the other day and I was able to open a new window when I clicked on a link by tapping it twice, slower than when you tap it twice to zoom but faster than two single clicks, I cant always replicate it but im trying to figure out how to trigger it. It wasn't just that link it worked with most links but it took me at least 5 tries to get it to work.

Could some people try this so we can figure out what triggers it?

Yeah, I just tried for the last 2-3 minutes on many different pages and was not able to replicate. Sounds like you just clicked on a link that opens in a new page, you just happened to accidentally double click on.

Yea, I've tried that and it doesn't work...I got all excited thinking i'd done something to make it happen the first time it did it. Was very disappointed to realize it was just a coincidence....
