I am using the mac version of open office, & almost every time I 1st open it up & use it to enter data or scroll, I get the spinning beach ball, & I have to force quit. I then have to go through the recovery process when I open it again.

When I open it a 2and time, it does not seem to lag or crash. It seems to do this when it 1st opened.

I am running snow leopard 10.6.3

Sounds like it may be a corrupt prefs file. Try deleting the openoffice folder in ~/library/application support plus the pref file in ~/library/preferences. OO will recreate them when you next launch it and hopefully the problem should then go away.

FWIW OO hasn't crashed for me on any of my machines in well over a year - it's a generally very stable piece of software.
