Open Search window in list view by default (how?)

Probably simple but...

After doing an erase and clean install to 10.6.6 for some reason my Search window continues to open in Icon view rather than List view as it did before.

Hard to believe I can't resolve this. And there's probably a very simple solution, but even after doing an extensive search on the web I can't seem to find it.

Anyone have a solution?

Don't laugh too loudly if this is a 'no-brainer' and I'm somehow missing the answer

I figured it out.

I hadn't realized that the Search window has its own View options that must have a default set for it alone (i.e. setting the opening view options for a Finder window does NOT also set the Search default options).

So I simply opened a new Search window (Command-F) > changed the view to List View > opened View Options and saved it as the default.

All is fine now.
