That's what Apple said, but they've never been particularly good at following through on promises about Openness.

I use tango.I just wanted to know if apple ever open sourced the protocol guess not

Skype is another one you could use.

Big difference between "open standard" and "open source".

My understanding was that it was based on a mixture of open web standards and could therefore be implemented by others - it just hadn't been.
