Open the Current App's Settings From Control Center

Recently, Daring Fireball's John Gruber resurfaced an old tip that lets you quickly access the settings menu for the currently opened app on your iPhone. If you find it a hassle digging through the Settings app to find the associated app menu, this solution saves you the bother.

It uses a simple Shortcut – made conveniently downloadable courtesy of Quinn Nelson – that you can add to Control Center (or better yet the Action button) by using the "Run Shortcut" control. We couldn't not highlight it here because it's so useful.

Now this is what I like to see! I think we need a weekly article spotlighting useful shortcuts or tips/tricks. I figured this was possible to do with Shortcuts, but had no idea it's so simple. Going to go build my own right now.

Agreed. I've always wished we could get there from long-pressing the app icon. At least on iPadOS, you can do it from the menu bar or keyboard shortcut.

Been using this on my iPhone and iPad for a while. Kind of useless on the iPad though since you can just open the app's settings from the menu bar.

A quick way to adjust notification settings from the home screen would be great. Changing notifications settings for a particular app is so cumbersome with how you have to go through the entire list of apps in Settings each time.

Like long-press on an icon and have "Notification Settings" in the menu. You know. Basic **** that should be there already but isn't for some dumb reason.

This wouldn't be an issue if apps like Uber and DoorDash weren't agents of spam.

I love Quinn and can see how this is useful but to me it serves no purpose, what settings is everyone accessing daily? I'm baffled.

My personal favourite shortcuts are, one to resize photos on my work iPhone, I often need to send 30 plus images in an email and so super quick bulk resize is a great option.

The other for me is switching to no sounds mode when activating the camera. This means you avoid the nasty shutter sound, I only take photos of my family and it can ruin those candid moments ending in posed shots and I massively dislike the shutter sound in general a nice beep would be better, or a choice. I'm not taking undercover or non consensual photos, I kind of don't think it should even be possible to turn off for most people anyway.

Maybe because the first half of your comment was literally in the first sentence of the article. MR was never claiming it as a new tip, or new shortcut. It's more of a "hey, in case you forgot, here's a cool shortcut" kind of thing. Plus the crack at Tim doesn't really serve any purpose, and isn't related to the article. But I'm just guessing.
