Open With Command

Why do multiple listings of the same program come up when clicking on the open with command & is there anyway to clean that out.

When opening up a photo - Preview shows up 3X, Correl shows up 2X etc...

(Trying to clean up my G5 for my daughter)

That is an error in the 'Launch Services'
You will need to google the instructions on how to reset/rebuild the launch services database, as I do not know if the procedure varies between the different versions of OS X & because you did not provide the version number that you are using.
