Open with... "file type" preferences?

I have some photoshop (.psd) files that open with the color sync utility instead of Photoshop. Where does one set the global preferences for which apps [always] open which file types?

Mac Pro / Leopard 10.5.5

Right Click>Get Info>Open With.
Then select the application you want.
Then choose always use selected application.

That may not be the exact wording, I can't check now cause I'm not on a mac.
