I don't know what happened, but on my imac running Lion when I go to open an instal file (dmg), it pulls up terminal window. So, I right click on the file and select "open with" and it gives me the terminal window choice, which is set as the default now. I can't figure out how to change it and am not sure WHAT to change it back to.

Can someone please help me?

Thanks!

If you select the file, chose "get info" you should be able to select the application to open it with

/System/Library/CoreServices/DiskImageMounter.app

Change it to DiskImageMounter, which is located here:

/System/Library/CoreServices/DiskImageMounter.app

Be sure to click "Change All" so it applies to all .dmg files.
